1. He's not going to do that.
But if he did, the senate would be split 50-50, with Cheney as the tie breaker. We would lose control.

3. That's what I thought
In that case, it would be imperative to immediately have the house impeach Bush AND Cheney and have them tried as war criminals. Otherwise, I say leave the two of them alone for now and get the government back on track.

God but I hate Lieberman and the State of Connecticut for reelecting the bastard!

5. You hate the state of Connecticut...
...because you don't agree with them? That's pretty childish.

7. Maybe, but I hate the state I grew up in
Because they elected Saxby Chambliss (and I bet they re-elect him in '08), even after what he did to Max Cleland.

9. Look what we did in Virginia to Allen
Get a good candidate. The tide is turning and next time you may be able to get him out.

We were lucky. Jim Webb is a person of intelligence and integrity but he was not a politician of the kissing babies and doing whatever it takes to be elected. Allen imploded in the face of an authentic hero and a person who refuses to sell his soul!

6. Let's hope that Cheney gets into enough of a snit
about daddy bush taking all the toys away and decides to resign for health reasons.. or that Gates can't get through the confirmation process. If either of those happen, there could be great pressure to have McCain fill one of those roles. He'd likely do it because it would be much easier to win in 2008 if he were NOT a senator. But if he does, then there is a Democratic governor in AZ who gets to name the replacement for McCain, at least until some special election, and THEN we don't need Joementum... well, not as much.

10. committees probably would be 50-50 R and D
The Senate was split 50-50 after the 2000 election, with cheney as the tie-breaker. The repubs retained the chairmanships, but assignments to the committees were on a 50-50 basis with equal staffing and resources. In the event of tie vote in committee, either side could ask that the measure be considered on the floor.

2. Lieberman Thinks of Lieberman and Noone Else
Edited on Mon Nov-13-06 07:45 AM by primative1
You guys are all thinking short term. Joe thinks of the big picture.
In this election almost all of the seats that were up for vote were democratic. I think there were 9 repub seats up and they lost six of them giving us control.
Sure Joe could switch and enjoy some short term personal benifit.
But think of what would happen in 08 when most of the seats up for vote will be republican held?
If todays trend holds, Joe, as a born again republican, might just find that he had switched himself over to becoming a part of the permanent minority.
Hmmm ... Such a dilema for such a self centered egomaniac.
He will play his cards close to his chest and wait until he gets a feel for any changes in the political environment.
