Congresswoman Pelosi refuses contact.
I stopped by Congresswoman Pelosi's website to urge her to not take impeachment off the table until ALL facts come in. I filled out the form, wrote my comments, hit send, and got this message:

Thank you! Please note that if you are not a constituent, this form will not process your entry. Non-constituents should visit http://democraticleader.house.gov to learn more about Congresswoman Pelosi's role as Democratic Leader.

Fucking auto-deleted by my own party !!

Evidently, congresswoman Pelosi will only receive comments from California residents, AND only those who are from her little district.

I can send an email to george bush for christ's sake, but not one to a "liberal democrat"?

The gatekeeping is becoming pretty obsene.

4. I Can See Both Sides
When she is Speaker, I'm sure she will accept nation-wide email. She's just being exceedingly cautious, and who can blame her?

Of course, you could always use Snail Mail.

21. but don't use an envelope
Email is so easy to send and broadcast and cheap that most Congressional offices don't give it much credence. Better to use snail mail, since you at least invested 40 cents to get it there. But don't use an envelope since it will be lost in the bowels of the Congressional mail quarantine office until it can be checked for anthrax. The best way is to simply write your letter on a piece of paper, fold it in thirds, tape, then write the address on the outside. This way, it is obvious that it doesn't contain any unknown substances. Or you can call and speak to an aide who will log your call and your concern.

7. Pretty standard response actually.
Unless you're a constituent, web forms on Congress critters sites return that sort of thing.

So, you go to the other site or print out your comments and mail or fax them to her. No big whoop.

13. You think or you are sure?
I would say that IF you donated to her campaign (not the DCCC) then I would write her a letter reminding her of your financial support and telling her why this issue is important to you. Nothing wrong with that, nothing wrong with her web site set up the way it is to filter out the internet freep drives and DU drives etc.

27. I will have to check the books.
I donate to a whole lot of senators, congressmen, and liberal causes nation wide. Usually not more than 100 bucks, but there have been a bunch over the years. Much like many other people here I suppose.

I used to get her mail before I moved my address a half dozen years ago or so.

It just pissed me off, thats all. I tried to make a coherent, and succinct argument, then wham! The delete key.

24. Thank You, My point exactly
I hope all the constituents in her district chime in before she unilaterally takes impeachment off the table on behalf of all americans.

If impeachment is warranted, it is our duty to prosecute those guilty of crimes. A cover-up will only dig the grave deeper.

Her decisions will be affecting all of us, not just the 30,000 or so in her district.

40. Exactly,
And why should we be forced to assume a false identity just to be heard?

Taking impeachment "impeachment off the table" on behalf of ALL americans is a very bad idea. It is breathtaking to not be allowed a voice of opinion.

I just hope a meger handful of her "constituents" speak up and voice the opinions of the rest of us.

I worked in a congressional office this summer and we forwarded all opinion letters to the Washington office. The Washington office received it about a month later because of the anthrax screening.

26. I think all of them do this now.
Generated by auto-generated email from online petitions? I think it's only fair to their constituents.

I think a call or post card would be more effective anyhow. Envelope mail might be slower, but it will eventually get through.

Another thought, contact your Rep and tell them your concern, s/he is your voice!

Good luck :hi:

29. She will wear 2 hats
She will be Speaker and she will represent her district. She will have email for both and an email for the party. Issues about the party should be sent to her at her party email address. As Speaker she will represent the House as a whole not the general public. If you do not live in her district, contact her at the party email.

33. Duh! They are overwhelmed by their own constituents...
why the heck would they accept emails from those they don't represent. That's what her leadership office is. Most Congresspersons do that. That way they can focus on the hundreds of emails they get each week from their own constituents.

She never sees the emails anyway. The staff handles those.

Members of Congress have to try to limit access to their email to their constituents - otherwise, they get spammed so bad by people from all across the country that it completely shuts down their email systems.
