Hoyer or Murtha?
I initial reaction was to support Murtha because the was the first Democrat to really come out with a plan dealing with Iraq and turned Iraq into a positive issue for us.

But Murtha has a lot of corruption charges against him and it is making me think twice.

I'm still leaning toward Murtha. What about you?

1. I don't want either one of them.
In other words, I don't want Pelosi's house to look/act like Hastert's house.

12. I don't support Hoyer at all
He has no personality.

How come when they have the first house session they don't call for nominations from the delegates? There's 239 Dems and it's hard to believe that only 2 are qualified.

I still like Murtha. He has over a month to clear his name and he'd better start now.

5. Yes, I would like to see Murtha get it...I think he also should get
more credit for getting the Dems in. It was Sheehan and then Murtha that got this anti-war topic going, and winning more people over to the anti-war side...

6. As a MD resident, I guess I'll go with Hoyer, but could really care less.
What about someone like http://www.house.gov/cummings/">Elijah Cummings?

Or some young blood like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXxS6booanY">Tim Ryan?

10. IMHO Murtha is more of the same when it comes to earmarks

and pork steered to his district. Also questionable arm-twisting of other Congress members.

While I love the stance he took against the war and support him 100% there, I would rather he not be majority leader.

Feel the same way about Robert Byrd getting head of Senate Appropriations Committee. There's not going to be a pothole in WV and wonder how many federal project will go there.

I wish we'd go with some new and cleaner blood for these positions.

Living in Pittsburgh I know how old line pork barrel politicos Murtha and Byrd are.

11. Murtha!
Slap the GOPers in the face. Wouldn't that be some shit. Jack Murtha, the guy they hate the most, helping to get our guys out of Iraq.

Beyond the salt-in-the-wound factor, I'd go with Murtha because he's a respected veteran. Now is the time for the Murtha's in Washington to be heard.
