What are the chances that Giuliani will be the GOP nominee?
From Talking Points:

(November 14, 2006 -- 12:34 PM EDT)

PERHAPS THIS IS something of an existential question. But do we really have to pretend that Rudy Giuliani has more than a snowball's chance in hell of getting the Republican presidential nomination? Or can we all just stipulate that a multiple adulterer, who supports gay civil rights and choice, has deep and on-going ties to mobbed-up and now-disgraced Police boss Bernie Kerik, has a largely unscrutinized (outside of New York) resume, and had the bright idea of locating the NYC disaster center in the already-once-bombed World Trade Center probably will have some rough sledding in Republican primaries?

1. I hope the Weenie-Waver wins the nomination.
He makes Clinton look like a choirboy.

2. Zero in my opinion
He has a lot of support in the GOP, but not at the larger base level. The xtian right won't vote for him because of his liberal social positions. Without that religious base, a candidate goes nowhere in the GOP.

3. None, neither will McCain
Most rethugs can't stand either one of them. Guliani is to them what Lieberman is to us.

Nope. They might win a small handful of states, but the Rethugs will nominate someone with a staunch conservative background. Which is good news for us.

4. I say zero, zip, nada, none. The VP, though? It could happen. IF he wanted it.
That said, Rudy has such a HUGE ego it's unlikely he could (or would want to) STFU and play second fiddle. He makes MILLIONS with that shitty Giuliani Group of his (they ripped off DELTA Airlines bigtime, FWIW) and he probably wouldn't want to give up that dough to be a lady in waiting.

It's not just his social issues stance, it's the "I wed three wives" and the Bernie Kerik business, and the conduct of his police force pre-911 (if you are dusky of skin tone, don't take out your wallet, you'll be KILLED by the cops; and heaven help you if you end up near a cop and a toilet plunger, too) will earn another look as well.

And, he's rather ugly to look at, and he has a goofy shaped head. Not that this should matter, but these things do influence some.

9. Ummmmm I would have to go with ZERO!
As time goes by if he is still not out of the picture stuff is going to come up about his private life that will make it impossible to continue...of course you can never tell with the Conservative base. They are willing to overlook lots of things in order to get their way.
