Updated: MSNBC reporting Murtha told the Blue Dogs that the ethics package is "total crap" |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 02:50 PM by Pirate Smile
See UPDATE below
but he will support it because that is what Nancy wants. He told them this last night.
Oh geez. I was hoping he would come out strongly supporting the reform package.
OK, Jack. I was for you before but now .... I think it wouldn't be going in the right direction.
Damn it. I was hoping you learned that lesson.
He sure as hell didn't help Nancy with that comment - now being reported out in the public.
edit to UPDATE - Flavia (Dem pundit on MSNBC) called Murtha immediately and said Murtha said he told the Blue Dogs that it was crap that the reform package is even necessary to keep Congress in line but if it will then he is all for it.
Good job, Flavia. They said she ran to get ahold of his office immediately to get a response. She is from Pennsylvania and a Murtha supporter.
We'll see how this plays out. Generally the Blue Dogs support Hoyer. It would help if another person at the meeting could back Murtha's take on what he said at the meeting.
Another UPDATE - Murtha will be on Hardball tonight. They just advertised the fact on MSNBC.

1. ..... and as it was being reported, that snickering cow, Nora O'Donnell, was ..... |
|
.... acting as if she'd just tasted the world's best chocolate. That, or she had an orgasm.
Gawd, I fucking hate her.

3. I was for him before I was against him. Too bad. I can only agree with him |
|
about Iraq and that is not enough to want him to be the Majority Leader.

4. Dang, they seem to have "accidentally" misquoted him: |
|
"it was crap that the reform package is even necessary to keep Congress in line but if it will then he is all for it"

7. I know...even TPMuckraker left off the last part... |
|
which was surprising. They also have up the ABSCAM tape with quotes from Murtha. I couldn't watch the tape but the parts of what he said didn't look good. Has anyone watched the whole tape over there? I'm hanging in by a thread hoping that Pelosi's pick of Murtha wasn't a really bad move by her.

9. Wow! I just knew the misquote had to be taken out of context... |
|
The a**holes on this board in LBN have been skewering him all day long..
I knew he couldn't have said such a foolish thing, especially with Nancy putting her very life on the line nominating him...
Thanks for posting the VINDICATION!

NOT NOT NOT blaming you. The story was being spun BIG time by that fucking twit shit for brains Nora. I posted a new thread with the same info you cited about Flavia. GOOD FOR HER! http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2969395

6. It's hard to know the truth of the stuff |
|
about his brother Kit being a big lobbyist and Murtha being the "go to man" for Defense Contracts. With the Repugs in power I wonder how muh the Murtha's could have gotten.
It's hard to know if this is all carefully orchestrated crap by the Repugs and DLC to trash Murtha for something that isn't really unethical or whether it's true. MSM is saying Murtha took as much lobby money as Tom DeLay...but not showing figures. Maybe Murtha fully reports his lobbying money whereas DeLay kept his in secret accounts or hidden in PAC's and other places where it couldn't be seen by anyone looking.
We Dems have dealt with so much crap it's hard to sort the malicious rumor from truth. But, I'm kind of thinking Nancy sort of "stepped in it" by throwing strong support to Murtha. Why would she do that knowing that if he was involved with anything the Netroots would report on it. Surely she knows how fast things spread and that she would be attacked if Murtha has ethical problems.
