Kudo's for Pelosi...recognizing Murtha who spoke to Leftie Anti-Iraq Invasion |
|
Pelosi gave her buddy Murtha a chance. He lost. But, Pelosi interned with Hoyer..so she has loyalty to him also.
We need to put this aside and praise Nancy Pelosi for giving Murtha his chance. She's friends with BOTH and so what went on "behind the scenes" is not for us to know...but Nancy really played it well and will NOT be hurt by this except by the Corporate Media!
(BTW: I'm not a Pelosi fan and hope she will be replaced in '08)...but she did "throw us a bone" by supporting Murtha and at 67 years old she kinda knows what things are about and has enough savvy to support Murtha even though she interned with Hoyer. Most of us Dems faced with this might have done what she did....Loyalty over Loyalty and two Candidates who represent on one hand "Old Guard" and on the other "Voice against Iraq War that rallied us Progressives! She had a Hard Choice and she PLAYED TO THE MIDDLE.
She did good...let the Hearing Begin in the Chairmanships of the Committees because that's where the ACTION IS!
Peace to you Nancy...(even though I'm not a fan of yours....but you did hear us out there and you deserve some KUDO's for that!)

1. "Leftie"? 56% of the American people opposed the Iraq War from the very |
|
beginning (Feb. '03). That would be a landslide in a presidential election. 70% now want the Iraq war to end. And 60% said that the Iraq War was their no. 1 concern in voting in the midterms. Opposition to the Iraq War is OVERWHELMING. It is the mainstream. Calling it "leftie" --"Murtha spoke to Leftie Anti-Iraq Invasion" marginalizes this overwhelming consensus of the American people, and makes it seem like a minority view (--at least until we can rehabilitate the word "leftist" and restore its true meaning of "majorityist").
This use of "leftie" also distorts how we should view the new Congress, and may affect strategy in terms of restoring adequate representation of the majority of Americans in Congress. Despite the Democratic gains, the new Congress STILL does not provide adequate representation, and I think we need to ask why, and to address the answers with action.
Maybe a sidelight: I still don't understand why the members of the old Congress are choosing leaders for the new Congress, which hasn't met yet. Can someone explain this to me?

....I'm not a big-fan of Murtha except for his stance on the war....he had the credentials and balls to stick his ass out there and take-on bushco....I know alot of knee-jerk people who heard Murtha and started to take another look at the war....he deserves much credit for his willingness and position on Iraq which gave us the election....
....Nancy deserves much credit for rewarding Murtha with her support....yes, she did good....
