Please read and pass along--- Target Store Policy
Subject: Target Store Policy

Wasn't it last Christmas that Target refused to let the Salvation Army ring their bells in front of their stores?

Dick Forrey of the Vietnam Veterans Association wrote.

"Recently we asked the local TARGET store to be a proud
sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our
spring recognition event.

We received the following reply
from the local TARGET management:
" Veterans do not meet our
area of giving. We only donate to the arts, social action
groups, gay & lesbian causes, and education."

So I'm thinking, if the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and
veterans in general, do not meet their donation criteria,
then something is really wrong at this TARGET store. We were
not asking for thousands of dollars, not even hundreds, just
a small sponsorship for a memorial remembrance.

As a follow-up, I E-mailed the TARGET U.S. Corporate
Headquarters and their response was the same.
That's their
national policy.

Then I looked into the company further.
They will not allow
the Marines to collect for 'Toys for Tots' at any of their
stores. And during the recent Iraq deployment, they would
not allow families of employees who were called up for
active duty to continue their insurance coverage while
they were on military service. Then as I dig further,

TARGET
is a French-owned corporation.

Now, I'm thinking again. If TARGET cannot support American
Veterans, then why should my family and I support their
stores by spending our hard earned America! n dollars!

And,
have their profits sent to France.

Without the American
Vets, where would France be today?

"They, most likely would be speaking German and trading in Deutsch Marks"

Sincerely,
Dick Forrey
Veterans Helping Veterans

Please send this on to everyone you know
to let Target know
we don't need them either

4. Is this legit? Additional sources? This sounds really slanted...
TARGET supports "gays and lesbians" but not veterans because it is a French company?

8. Not that this has to do with the Salvation Army
I would just like to say as a team member of Target(i'm a cart attendant) that Target is a really great place to work. The guests(customers) that shop there are really nice people and the mangement there are real nice people that don't treat there employees like shit and make you feel inferior.

Cause I know all about feeling like a slave, I used to work for Wal-mart and it's the most god awful place to work. Working there almost made me lose my mind, but I had the decency to quit.

I guess he heard it pronounced "Tarjay" one too many times. :eyes:

the Snopes link has him apologizing for being an idiot, but that doesn't make him not one.

Is it too much too ask that people actually research the veracity of this crap before posting it? I mean come on, does this sound real to anyone anywhere?

Here's a hint. If it came in the form of a chain email, chances are extremely high that it's completely made up. Don't be a dupe for the assclowns that write this stuff. It's embarrassing.

On edit: Babs, I'm sure you meant well posting this. I really didn't intend to come down on you like a ton of bricks but stuff like this is very harmful, it's very important to NOT spread it around. When you pass it along without verifying it first, you are helping the neocon agenda. Please, please, PLEASE check rumors out first.

18. This is sort of funny because Target is actually a Repuke-donating store.
So, if the rightwingers want to send this around to hurt Target, they can be my guests.
