Barnicle on Hardball said Iraq is IN civil war and horrified most Dems are waiting
Edited on Tue Nov-21-06 07:21 PM by blm
for the Baker report to hide behind.

That it is just like Vietnam where politicians waited knowing for sure there was no success possible militarily but letting young people die anyway because they can't face the truth.

Murtha in the house, and Kerry-Feingold in the senate ADDRESSED the reality of Iraq's CIVIL WAR last spring and submitted a doable withdrawal plan at the time. 13 senators voted for it.

Most refused back then to ADMIT there was Civil war in Iraq - Now they have no choice - they can no longer dance around the reality - CIVIL WAR.

It's time that the Democrats RESUBMIT Kerry-Feingold and start getting out.

1. Kerry-Feingold was what Congress should have voted for.
Instead, they chose a very bland and cautious resolution, which was defeated anyway by the GOP and Joe Lieberman.

4. He was FURIOUS that Bush only spent 15min at historic POW-camps and that
his overriding INCURIOUSNESS is always what guides Bush in all of his decisions.

Really tough hits on Bush from Barnicle.

6. He gets airtime, and he's telling the truth - that doesn't happen often, and I'm
going to enjoy any truth that gets told in the broadcast media.

7. Kerry/Feingold was a real plan with depth to it, the Levin/Reid amendment
was and empty box with a ribbon around it.

9. Can Dems recover from this deep flaw -- the inability to rally behind bold leadership?
I really don't know. The treatment of Murtha and Kerry-Feingold has been
dissappointing. Kerry's original proposal was thoughtful, farsighted and
a bold statement of what the best policy analyst around the world were saying.

I was strange how little spine the Party has showed on this crucial
issue before the nation and the world. All they had to do was follow the
Murtha, Kerry, Feingold lead.

11. The Dems are waiting?
Why, yes, I suppose that could be one interpretation. The Democrats are waiting until they have the gavels in their hands before convening hearings. Remember the basement sessions, Mr. Barnicle? The Republican leadership in Congress was so scared of actually airing issues the last two years that they even denied the Democrats space to meet informally to take statements (not testimony) from people.

The Democrats have been doing everything in their power to get to the bottom of things in regards to all things Iraq, and starting in January, they'll have the power to convene hearings and issues subpoenas. The only party that's been waiting has been the Republicans.

Douchebag.

12. He was talking about Iraq withdrawal plans and Dem leadership not pushing
for them while they are waiting for the Baker plan.

I always believed Reid should resubmit Kerry-Feingold after the Nov election to add pressure to the debate, and since it's a helluva lot harder to pretend that Iraq is NOT in civil war yet. Even John Warner is well aware of it.

13. It is only getting worse
What are we waiting for? While many will enjoy their turkey & ham tomorrow, kids in Iraq will still be in harms way. We need resolutions now. Bush needs to have a session where he makes not pre-requisites. The countries surrounding Iraq should be invited to attend (including Iran). No republicans should be allowed to talk.
