Clark to be in Wisconsin on Wednesday
Retired Gen. Wesley Clark was doing anything but sounding retreat Sunday in an appearance at the Racine Labor Center.

Despite trailing in several polls by a large margin, Clark seemed buoyed by an enthusiastic crowd of hundreds who packed the small labor hall to capacity and cheered him as if he were the front-runner.

"I guess these people in Racine forgot to read the polls," said Lt. Barbara Lawton in explaining the turnout on a chilly Sunday afternoon. Lawton is Clark’s statewide campaign coordinator and has been campaigning in several other primaries for Clark.

<snip>

"I don’t put too much stock in the polls," Clark said. "The polls are driven by the national media’s sense of momentum and inevitability and it’s not inevitable."

Asked several times if he would be ending his campaign soon if he did not win a primary in the next few weeks, Clark made it sound as if he had just begun to fight.

"Of course I am staying in," Clark said. "I will be here in Wisconsin on Wednesday."

1. I actually think Wisconsin is more fertile ground for Clark than Dean
I have liked the fact that of late the two men for the most part have been able to stay out of each other's way, but obviously that can't go on forever.

2. Still time for letter-writing to Wisconsin
Open primary 2/17/04

In this open primary system, any registered voter -- be they independent, Democrat, Republican or affiliates of other parties -- can cast ballots in any one party's presidential primary.

Here is a .pdf of a flyer designed for Wisconsin from Clarkblogger dennyzen.

Anyone writing might want to send it with your letters. I know you're a great phoner, Tom, but some people do better writing notes. It's good to get flyers out there at the same time. I have 150 envelopes addressed with flyers enclosed and will write notes after tomorrow.

Wisconsin looks like a hopeful place to me, too.

But I was born and raised in New York. I still have an apartment in the East Village, but I can't afford to live in it. :eyes:

7. Well then
You know your way around NY enough that you can help us out here with our Primary in early March. I promise to return the favor.

Let me know what you need. I have some physical limitations, but I'll do what I can.
