Christopher Hitchens is in Fantasyland
From T BOGG. Funny as hell.

http://tbogg.blogspot.com/

Here's Christopher Hitchens at his most absurd:

As with most senior Democrats, Kerry's revolving-door record with lobbyists and donors is one to make Cheney and Bush look like amateurs

Usually, when someone's blood alcohol level reaches the point where they can write a sentence like that with a straight face, their heart and lungs have both stopped working and they're secreting pure Wild Turkey through their pores.

8. LOL!!!
I've never heard of him being a fan of the herb, but I know he has quite a reputation as a mean, ornery drunk.

It's too bad he became such a war supporter and neo-con lapdog. He used to be quite entertaining to read, especially the way he'd nail both right-wingers and Corpocrats at the same time. I really liked his book and documentary film, "The Trial of Henry Kissinger". I still firmly believe that some day that war criminal will face the music, too.

Hitch has become little more than a characature of his former self of late. He really doesn't know when to quit.

3. He isn't exactly a new arrival there.
So, he is preparing the way to bash Kerry now, after years of hating the Big Dog??? Just what we need.

4. This is one of their "trial opening salvos"...
That will--if Sen. Kerry wins the nomination--turn into an all-out effort by "Chip" Rove & Co. to make our nominee--whoever he ends up being--into THE issue, and not Dub or his record. They won't just try this on Kerry; anyone who comes out on top will be fair game for them. In other words, several pages out of the late Lee Atwater's 1988 playbook, used to turn Michael Dukakis' 17-point post Dem. convention lead into an 12-point loss to Poppy in November.

Hopefully, Dub's self-destruction tour will continue unabated for at least six more months, making any attempt at "recovery"--i.e. standing at Ground Zero in Sept.--too little, too late. But this IS going to be the Repubs' strategy, folks.

B-)

5. Hitchens is a drunken Dennis Miller with a British accent
Both have changed sides, left to right, because they have deemed it more profitable in the current political climate in America....These people have no real convictions.....

6. Hitchens believes we are at war with Islam...

He wants us to invade all potential threats, consequences be damned because if we dont the Islamofascists will win....All of his arguements rest on this view.

So therefore he supports Bush no matter what, because he believes Bush will fight them using any means neccessary regardless of the consequences.

Nothing else matters to this guy. And I mean, nothing.

14. The thought of conquering Islamists taking away his alcohol
shakes him to his foundation... He clutches his bottle, imagining hordes of swarthy mohammedans coming for it.
His allegiance is to liquor, not freedom or liberty, unless it be the freedom and liberty to drink excessively.
If hashish were his thing, Hitchens would be openly wondering what all the fuss about Islamic fundamentalism is.
He is a greasy, sweaty, quasi-intellectual, cankered prick.

7. He's Correct
The problems with Kerry are/were threefold

1) boring/no fire which changed after Dean lead the way (at least with respect to the fire)

2) no record of solid accomplishment

3) a big money man/much lobby sponsorship, etc
the same old game
this has not changed

Granted Dean is presumably toast and ABBB drives this from here on out and carry has a bone-fide war record comapred to GW(easel) Bush
but this is why i could not get behind Kerry with much entusiasm compared top Dean

9. But his statement saying Kerry makes Bush and Cheney
look like amateurs is utter garbage. Give me a break. I'm sorry, but Hitchens whoring for Bush makes me disregard anything he says. If he were a thoughtful liberal trying to point out Kerry's weaknesses, that might be different.

I don't generally agree with anything Hitchens says (well, except liking Edwards), but this kind of attack is not right.

"Usually, when someone's blood alcohol level reaches the point where they can write a sentence like that with a straight face, their heart and lungs have both stopped working and they're secreting pure Wild Turkey through their pores."

Imagine a freeper writing that same sentence about Ted Kennedy. I've see similar things written and said. Regardless of what you think about Hitchens' beliefs, and I generally think they're bunk, we shouldn't be lobbing these kinds of accusations at anybody.

I mean picking on someone for being an alcoholic or drug addict. But this one was so well-phrased, tears came to my eyes while laughing.

"Usually, when someone's blood alcohol level reaches the point where they can write a sentence like that with a straight face, their heart and lungs have both stopped working and they're secreting pure Wild Turkey through their pores."

And I probably would have laughed that hard if I were trolling FR and it was about Kennedy.

Sorry. }(
