Unconventional/non-discussed VP candidates. |
|
Let's take a quick break from today's very early Presidential Posturing to discuss something else, shall we?
Namely, give me a candidate that isn't usually discussed that you think might make a good VP candidate. Usually, qualifications would be that he/she adds something to the ticket (geographic appeal, gravitas, etc.) that will get us over the hump.
I'm not sure whom I'd support for 08 just yet, although I think I'd lean towards Gore if he tossed his hat into the ring. So working on that assumption, here's my unconventional VP: Senator Byron Dorgan from North Dakota.
I know, I know, that kind of ticket isn't the most progressive in the world, right? Well, I'd lean towards Gore because the whole thing just reeks of history repeating itself. Nixon lost a close election to Kennedy, took a cycle off, repaired his "stiff" image, and then won handily. As for Dorgan, he's a popular Senator from mountain west - an area of the country that we're really starting to make big strides in. He'd help considerably in states like North Dakota, Montana, Colorado, and throughout the midwest. I think he'd help tip the balance in our favor.
So what say you? Who's your unconventional/non-discussed VP candidate?
