One in six New Yorkers are going hungry. That's according to the New York City Coalition Against Hunger, who analyzed data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 2003 - 2005. Food insecurity in the city has risen from 14 percent from 2000 to 2003 to 15.4 percent. Similar numbers are seen across New York state, with the U.S. Census Bureau revealing that New York is the only state where both poverty and overall earnings have increased.
