If the US Troops Went Home Today....Would Anybody In Iraq Notice? |
|
Considering the level of chaos reigning in Iraq, and the US troops mostly hunkered down for safety, the US has very little public presence. If the troops left, the killing would go on, just not any of our people would be dying.
Since we aren't accomplishing anything anyway, pack up and leave! The Imperial Embassy will make a good public infrastructure resource for whatever government finally organizes itself.

1. You think its bad now? |
|
You think 50 civilians a day is bad now? Try 500 a day. 1000. Wholesale slaughter in the streets. And it would widen to the north too where the Kurds have been, for the most part, free from the daily rampages south of their strongholds.
Iran, a shi'ite power, would probably rush in from the east fully backing the Shia majority. Syria, Sunni dominated, would probably be forced to enter from the west to protect its Sunni interests. The Turks, fearful of an autonomous Kurdish autonomy in the north would DEFINITELY send their troops in. Basically the country would split into three, and anyone not of the right ethnic background when those lines are drawn would get a bullet in the head.

Our being there isn't doing anything except providing excuses for more of it.

there was no where near the level of hostility against each other before the occupation. We have to clean up the crap we caused....President Bush and his cronnies will be responsible for the genocide caused.

4. I Submit To You That WE Can't Clean Up Anything |
|
Certainly not with Dumbya in charge, maybe never. I am willing to bet that when it's all over, we'll be hit with hefty reparations, though. At which point we ought to get Bush and Cheney and Rummy and Rice to turn over their personal wealth.

6. It seems to me we need a UN sponsored Peace Conference with all parties involved |
|
and UN peace keeping forces (perhaps from Arab nations with no axe to grind-Sunni & Shiite equally represented, Kurd too although it would be hard to find neutral Kurds).

8. or something! We certainly are good at making giant messes, aren't we? |
|
guess this must be the Pandora's Box part that the few lone voices who didn't want this to happen were talking about back in 2002, hey?
Yes...we need a global summit, pronto!
