Bush White House Christmas Party Menu
I put this in GDP in that has a little bit to do with the troops and Bush's supposed politics. For years Bush has passed himself off as an everyday guy. I contend this menu blows that act to pieces. It is not just the type of things being served at the party it is how much is being served at the party. I understand that many people will be attending this event, but do they need to have so many choices of food.

I also put this post in GDP in that it has a little to do with the troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. At the end of the piece the author points out that Bush has been saying that the Iraq War requires sacrifices, but Bush is not making any of the sacrifices. Finally, I am not so sure the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan will be having any of to foods for their Christmas day meal. A link to the article follows.

1. .
fried tenderloin! disgusting. you sautee it, broil it, grill it, but you dont bread it and fry it!
the tamales im down with
the stuffed turkey sure.
shrimp cocktail is the biggest joke ever. anyone who orders it as a appetizer is a moron. buy some cheap peel and eats at the store, whip up your own ketchup + horseradish sauce, and you get so much more shrimp for your dollar!

2. Welcome HA HA HA OH WOW
Glad you are here. I have an incredible weakness for shrimp and you are right about buying it in large quantity and whipping up your own cocktail sauce. I might suggest however that bush would fuck that task up just like he fucks up everything else.

10. I make it with cubed steak
Mainly because it's the only beef cut I can afford. It's also the official way it's made in the South and in Germany before that, except that they used cubed veal and called it Wienerschnitzel.

6. "chicken-fried beef tenderloin" ???? WTF ????
What a waste of perfectly good tender beef.

Chicken-fried steak was meant to be made with tougher cuts of beef pounded tender (like cube steaks).

And while I like to make it once in a while (for myself), I'm a bit of a heretic here in that I eat it with brown gravy instead of white.

8. Maybe I'm suffering from outrage fatigue
but I just can get worked up about the WH Xmas dinner menu. A lavish dinner comes with the territory. I mean, what did the Clintons serve, PB&J?

Its like that other poster is saying: petty and trivial

16. Understand, But
I understand what you are saying, but the Clintons were not in office during a war or during two wars. In addition, the Clintons were not telling people that there was a need for sacrifice. As I said my main problem is that they, the Bushes, are doing this now and while they have talked of sacrifice.

9. I remember...
once while immersed in an assortment of books about the Roman empire, I came across a menu of decedent fare that was served to the ancient Roman emperors. Funny thing, they almost sound like the menu at a White House Christmas Dinner. Humming bird tongues would fit right in.

12. don't forget the custom of some wealthy Romans, of inducing vomiting
To make room for the next course.

With Bush in the room, I wouldn't need any incentive to throw up -- it would just happen automatically.
