Rep. Ben Chandler (D) KY-06 will NOT run for governor in 2007

He announced he won't challenge Gov. Fletcher, even though Fletcher is as popular as a hernia. It'll be interesting to see who the Democrats put up cause this is a golden opportunity to win a state next year with Fletcher being so unpopular. He may not even survive his own primary.

Pelosi might be the most happiest cause KY-06 is a moderate to conservative swing district. And if Chandler won the governorship in 2007, there'd be no guarantees that the seat would stay Democratic.

That is why running would be a gamble for Chandler. The eventual GOP nominee may not be as unpopular as Fletcher.
