The Investigators: Leahy, Levin

The Investigators: Leahy, Levin

By Justin Rood - December 1, 2006, 2:54 PM

As we wait for the Democratic players to take the field of the 110th Congress, we're going to take a closer look at the senior lawmakers whose positions put them at the forefront of investigations into the Bush administration.

They're trading cards of a sort. Collect them all! Today we start with two Democratic Senate lions, Carl Levin (MI) and Patrick Leahy (VT).

Player: Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI)
Position: Chair, Armed Services; Chair, Homeland Security and Government Affairs Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations

Snip...

Player: Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT)
Position: Chair, Judiciary
Leahy's white hair and soft voice belie the tenaciousness with which he latches onto an issue or a witness, and doesn't let go...

3. Levin is a lion
I've talked to him many times, he's plain spoken and no nonsense. The R's will have many good reasons to cry soon.

4. This is REALLY shallow, but...
I'm watching Levin now on MTP.
I WISH he would lose that damned comb-over.
He would look BETTER,not worse.

The subject of comb-overs came up at a Christmas party last night.
I was chatting with 4 or 5 women.
Every single one said that comb-overs really put them off.
It's like a guy is trying to hide his age but it actually makes him look older.

I know, I know.
Unimportant.
mea culpa
;-)

5. Superficial : Its not what is on his head...its what is in his brain...
that comes out of his mouth. He is truly one of the best Senators on the War issue in the Senate!!! Doesn't take any guff.

7. Soft voice?
The author must not have been listening to Leahy for the past couple of years.
