1. At least the poll questions aren't overly opinionated.....
For the record, even though Hillary isn't my choice, I'll be happy when any Dem becomes the next president.

26. howabout Rodham?
Clinton is just her married name anyway, just hers due to our male-oriented society that dates back to when men "bought" their wives (hence, taking their husbands' last names).

29. so... what name do you think will be on a ballot???
she would never have been elected the junior senator from New York if she had simply been a recently relocated lawyer named Hillary Rodham. I doubt she could have been elected to a city council, any city council. She is using her connection to Bill and their marriage possibly as much as any woman in history. I wouldn't get all wound up about how much a victim she is of the "male-oriented wife purchasing society" if I were you. She is milking it for all it's worth.

Even anti-war voters will be happy
because there is no doubt that the anti-vote voters will prefer Hillary over any Republican.

Hilary was playing politics when she voted in favor of this war, and I strongly believe that she was being opportunistic and regrets having done it.

But if Hilary found herself in power, her actions would speak louder than her words, and she would be a very diplomatic, peace-seeking, multilateralist president, without counting all of her other virtues:

She's almost perfect in my opinion, and we must elect her in'08.

7. I can't shake the feeling that she would be the wrong
choice for 2008. Not because she is not capable, but because she is still so polarizing. Many, many, many people who might vote Democrat will NOT vote for her because of who she is. There are too many people who hate her viscerally, in this country. They are ignorant and wrong, but really, can we afford to chance putting another Republican in office, say one who can't fix on a position, like McCain?

9. Heh
I feel the same way. I don't think she's our best bet by a long shot (largely because of her stump style and the way her personality comes across on television) but should she win, I would be profoundly happy. And some of that happiness would be derived from watching rightwing heads explode.

have you read the posts here?

What were the big scandals of the Dem congress? Unpaid Capitol Cafeteria bills? I don't want to see any repugs in any position of power until the entire current crop of criminals has died off - 40 years should do it. Then the power will be divided between the dems and the greens, and the repugs can be the pissant spoilers.

If a Democrat wins in 2008, no matter who it is, I'm going to give him/her the benefit of the doubt. Likewise if a Republican is elected I'm going to be pissed off until said President does something to please me (highly unlikely).

After 6 years of Dubya as governor followed by 8 years of him as POTUS, she'll be a welcome change.

It'd also be fun to see the Texas Republicans grinding their teeth down to the gums whenever they see or hear her.

But I really worry that Hillary wouldn't be able to win the election, I remember reading a poll a few months ago where 40% of the respondents said they would never vote for her.

The most important thing is picking a candidate who can win the election, but isn't just a republican in democrat clothing.

41. Hillary will not have a cake-walk with Obama
Gather around, little ones, I have a story to tell you. It is a cautionary tale about a perfect little girl who had a seemingly perfect little plan.

The perfect girl was named Hillary and her plan was to become President of the United States. So, after joining the World's Most Exclusive Club, she set out to do everything her head -- and her consultants -- told her was right.

he learned the rules of the Club, and followed them closely. She reached across the aisle and brought home the bacon for her constituents back home.

She posed for smiling photo-ops with Bill Frist, Newt Gingrich, and Rick Santorum.

She backed a bill criminalizing flag burning, came out against violent video games, signed on to President Bush's missile defense plan, shifted her language on abortion, and became a bellicose backer of the war in Iraq -- convinced that the country isn't ready for a female Commander-in-Chief who isn't a hawk.

She dutifully sharpened the points of her triangulation strategy, decorating her rhetoric in red state-friendly shades. She was careful, oh so careful, and aimed to please -- never saying anything that would get her in trouble.

She also quietly and methodically began building her campaign team -- surrounding herself with a gaggle of advisers and consultants, raising millions of dollars (and lining up a top-flight national finance director to help her raise millions more), reaching out to power brokers in her home state, and sending out press releases through the New York Times.

She even hired a netroots pro to harness the energy of the Internet and help her win the favor of the blogosphere.

With Democrats on the rise, her perfect plan seemed to be working out perfectly.

And then suddenly, unexpectedly, came a rumbling in the distance. A rumbling caused by a boy named Barack. Indications are that before the year is out, Barack will officially be in.

All at once, a surge of enthusiasm and support for the boy named Barack is threatening to ruin all of the girl named Hillary's perfect plans -- like sand castles being washed away by a rising tide.

So, my little ones, what is the lesson to be learned from this tale?

That you might as well speak your mind and do what is in your heart because you never know what waits around the corner -- what unforeseen forces are headed your way.

As the poet tells us, the best-laid plans of mice and men -- and perfect little girls -- often go awry. And, man oh man, are they ever going awry for Hillary.

44. Hillary won't carry Ohio
The mere fact that she is from New York is a hurdle by itself. The fact that she is Hillary, makes it unlikely that she will win but the bluest of the blue states.

I will repeat this, the antiwar people will never vote for her. She has waited too long to even renounce her IWR vote, and she lacks credibility on Iraq unlike other candidates that have been sounding alarm bells for months.

IF she becomes prez...I am going to be very, very leery....I don't care for the way hubby is cozying up to Sr.Bush...and I don't really care what anyone else thinks about that, or excuses they make for it...I don't like the way she attacks other Democrats when they flub a sentence...I don't like a lot of things about her...she may be brilliant...she may be this, she may be that....however...there ARE things about her that raise my red flags and tell me...that we better be damned careful and thoughtful when we think about electing her...we better remember that she moved to NY...after he left the WH...with the express purpose of becoming Senator, ONLY to make a run for the WH, herself..and personally, I think if she KNEW she WAS going to make that run for sure in 2008....then she should have given up the Senate seat to someone who would have been willing to stay in the Senate...kinda dishonest in my book...no...let me take that back...she's been nothing but opportunistic...and aren't we sick of politicians who are opportunistic corporatists YET???? How many more times do we have to elect one??? flame away...I don't want Hillary for Pres...period...IF they put her up as nominee....get ready to have JEB as president...imo of course...
