Sam Brownback is making an official announcement... |
|
that he is going to run for President. He is a right-winger of the first magnitude. Will the Republicans return to the hair of the dog that bit them? Or will they be looking for someone a little more "moderate"? Do they think this style of politics will still sell to the Republican voters? It will be interesting to follow this Senator's progression...

1. I think Brownback would be a favorite. |
|
Of all the current GOP candidates, he's the most conservative. Listening to them talk and knowing that primaries usually turn out the guys that appeal to the base of the party, I'd have to say that he'd be a very, very strong candidate for the nomination.

Spend lots of Republican dollars to become the next George Allen.
Sam Brownback is the kind of Republican that Kansas is rejecting as too ideologically driven to be interested in the well being of Kansans.
So if Kansas doesn't want his politics anymore, just who is going to vote for him?
But definitely run, Sam. Spend lots of dollars doing it.

4. About the only one they have who's been able to hornswoggle |

the press and the stupid into believing he's any sort of moderate is McCain. However, there are two things wrong with McCain: his "moderate" reputation will cost him the fundy lunatic vote and he's too old for the office.
However, they may run him with a nightmare VP and expect him to die in office.
Or they may just run a lunatic as a sacrificial lamb so they can blame the fallout from the former 8 years on Democrats.

...but the scary thing is he has a better chance of getting the nomination out of anyone for Republicans now. The media cracks me up hyping the Clinton's, McCain's, and Guiliani's because I don't think any of those will get either parties nomination.

8. Sam Brownback would make the religious right happy. |
|
He's a loony a religious nut as they could have hoped for, and his nomination would excite and energize the RW a great deal. That in itself makes me uneasy. We can only hope that the majority of Americans, who don't subscribe to his extreme views, will fight back.

Sorry, but it doesnt get much better than Brownback as the Republican nominee.
I read an article a while back that claimed he already has widespread support among christian conservative leaders in Iowa.
If he can manage to win Iowa and South Carolina, he could very will win the nomination.

This is awesome... with a nut like brownback in the race all the thugs will have to adapt a more rightward stance further alienating them from the mainstream.
Hell, I'll even volunteer for sam.

This coming from someone that lives in Kansas. Quite honestly I believe that if the GOP runs a massively heavy conservative like Brownback of Romney they'll have no chance in 08.
