Freepers are shedding tears because Pinochet is close to dying
Some of their posts..

"Interesting you brought up Lincoln. Pinochet is very much his country's Lincoln. Lincoln took out the trash, too. He knew what it took to preserve his nation and did not treat the Constitution as a mutual suicide pact."

"The last Latin American ruler who knew the proper place for Commies and Communism and had the cojones to put them there. Venezuela needs a man like him."

"Pinochet only had to put a couple of thousand in the boneyard.
We put a lot more there in SE Asia and couldn't stop the Commies.
The man was a miracle worker."

"Pinochet is a hero."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These people who support the ideals of this fascist dictator probably consider themselves to be patriotic Americans and yet anyone who remotely likes Pinochet, can't have any love or respect for democracy, liberty or a constitution; You know the things real patriotic Americans fought and died for.

2. They never had to live under him
It's easy for them to say he was a hero because they never were subjected to his brutality. He overthrew a democratically elected government and tortured and killed people, but because he overthrew a Marxist all that is okay.

3. Bout time they're open and honest about their fascism
What a great way to stand up for freedom and democracy... by delcaring your love for a mass murdering dictator. Isn't this the same thing they're constantly accusing the left of?

4. They 'd be more honest if they called it fascism, not one their posts
even mentions that fact that he was a fascist dictator. Clearly they only want to apply the word Fascism and Nazism to things that have nothing to do with them, like Islam (Islamo-fascism) or feminism (femi-Nazis).

5. clincher: "Surely we couldn't stand by and allow the country to go communist..
..due to the irresponsibility of its own people."

who said that one? Henry Kissinger, who sent arms and messages of encouragment to the fascists and brought on a fucking bloodbath.
wonder what the Freeps would say if Kissinger was brought up on war crimes charges in Chile....he certainly deserves it.

8. Yes FR, I didn't link because I think it is against the rules
Restrictions on Linking to Other Websites

Do not post messages that give publicity to websites that have little purpose other than to smear, disrupt, or complain about Democratic Underground. Currently there are only three websites that fall into this category. Their addresses are not listed here because we do not wish to give them publicity. They are easily identified by their bizarre obsession with Democratic Underground.

You can do a search for it on their website, the article is "Gen. Pinochet, 91, fighting for life (suffered heart attack, last rites given)"

7. This thread brings to mind a song...
Talkin' John Birch Paranoid Blues

Well, I was feelin' sad and feelin' blue,
I didn't know what in the world I was gonna do,
Them Communists they wus comin' around,
They wus in the air,
They wus on the ground.
They wouldn't gimme no peace. . .

So I run down most hurriedly
And joined up with the John Birch Society,
I got me a secret membership card
And started off a-walkin' down the road.
Yee-hoo, I'm a real John Bircher now!
Look out you Commies!

Now we all agree with Hitlers' views,
Although he killed six million Jews.
It don't matter too much that he was a Fascist,
At least you can't say he was a Communist!
That's to say like if you got a cold you take a shot of malaria.

The rest is here...

By the way, it's such a pleasure to see an artist put some parts of his work online instead of fighting to keep it away from the light of day...

9. It makes perfect sense that they would be apologists for him.
If they truly wished to understand Pinochet, they would watch this film: The Pinochet Case (Information here- http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/pinochet_case/). As it is, they only see him as a "glorious commie killer."
