Economic Report: Wages For Women Up While Men's Wages Decline

Economic Report:

By Jesse Russell

Erosion in the wage gap between men and women should be reason to celebrate - so why isn’t anyone rejoicing? Turns out that at the same time women saw a slight up tick in wages - by 3 percent, men say a down trend with average male wages dropping by 2 percent. One reason cited is that there has been an increase in jobs in female dominated fields - such as the service sector. While high paying factory and information technology jobs - typically male dominated - have been on the decline in the United States. Women now earn on average less than $32,000 per year while men earn less than $42,000 per year.
