We have a while before the primaries begin. Bring things up a level people.
Instead of playing the hate tune. Posting against other Dems...so fucking early...why not post POSITIVE things about the people you LIKE. Don't play the negativity shit like the fuckin freepers. That hatred bullshit is fucking old. It gets old. It is fucking TIRED OUT.

I understand that people here HATE HILLARY. There are plenty of people who are running to actually talk about. Why hate her and she hasn't even declared. Isn't that stoopid. What are you a member of the Hillary Haters Psychic Friends Network?

If people spent more time hating the GOP and less time hating their own this would be a true Democratic Underground.

I have never understood the psychology of constantly beating someone down when you could build someone up. Racist play that shit. They talk constantly about who they hate but not about who they like and love. Let's bring the argument up a level. There's plenty of time to wallow in the stench and filth of hatred later.

THAT IS FUCKING ALL.

I frankly doubt it.

7. Hey, how's about being positive about your candidate instead of negative
about mine? In the spirit of the OP.

2. Damn good point, but
it's a little overheated to describe posts by those who oppose a Clinton nomination as "hate". Don'tcha think?

3. I don't hate Hillary.
I rather like her. I'm just concerned that she can't win nationwide. I also wonder which HRC we will be getting.

I saw that Switzer dude from MT on an I-pod download of Colbert last night. Seemed pretty cool until he mentioned the expanded use of coal.

5. Schweitzer claims some kind of clean coal technology,
but I don't know what it is & he didn't have time on Colbert to go into it. Maybe someone else knows?

I would love to see Schweitzer run! I would like to see fresh faces, not the same old ones.

9. We have a lot of coal here, in Eastern Montana. Brian claims they can
gasify it and sequester the CO2 but there is a lot of skeptics if "clean coal is possible.

He's also pushing hard for wind energy and other alternatives to imported oil.

11. A problem with coal is how they dig it up.
That's apart from the sulfer dioxide. Otherwise he seemed like a very likeable Western governor from the increasingly blue state of Montana.

There's no way to do it economically at this point.

6. My problem is I have no clue who I'm supporting
The only person I know I'm not supporting is Joe Biden. I mean, I'm ok with him as my senator but it's a joke if he thinks he'll get more than 3 electorial votes in the primary (which is our home state of Delaware).

Here's the LynneSin timeline for selecting a 2008 democratic nominee candidate: Between now and before the start of 110th congress in Jan 2007, I will personally not give a fuck about who is the nominee. Hell I worked my tailbone off for six months helping us to get the house & congress. I need a break. Then in February, maybe even early March I'll start checking out some of the candidates out there and perhaps by September-October of 2007 I'll make the official announcement of who I will be supporting in 2008.

BTW, it was May of 2003 when I jumped on the Dean bandwagon!

15. Too late - I think the Primary Wars began early for 2008 -
They began late last week it seems. I'm a new member, and had lurked only since the 2004 election, but I've heard enough tales and witnessed enough repercussions and bad blood that I have a vague sense of what we are headed for. The candidate cliques, the vitriol, the deleted sub-threads, the mass tombstonings. It had to begin though - it's not DUs fault - it's the candidates and their insiders with their press comments over the past week who kicked this off. And it is true that Iowa will be a perfect storm (forgive the expression) of frantic campaign and obsessive media in less than a year from today. I sit here in terror and awe.

19. Here's the problem, the Iraq War is an extremely emotional issue to some people
Edited on Tue Dec-05-06 08:53 PM by Hippo_Tron
Hillary consistantly puts herself on the side of this issue that is opposite that of the anti-war movement.

People will consistantly complain that those who hate Hillary aren't being rational. The problem with their argument is that opposition to the Iraq War is more emotional than rational, although the Iraq War was certainly an irrational policy. When people have such strong emotions they will express them loudly.

Don't get me wrong the Iraq War isn't the only emotional issue. Abortion is another one. If one of the candidates finds themselves on the wrong side of that issue, you can bet that people will harbor a deep hatred for them. However pretty much everyone in the dem field is solidly pro-choice.

26. The thing is Many other Dems in Congress voted for that fucking war.
Why not spread it around or build up the ones who didn't vote for the war.

Why constantly rip our own when you can build up the Dems who do well? Save the ass rippin for the GOP and be positive towards the Dems you like.

Simple.

20. Your role
I am hard pressed to think of a name I see more of than yours in the "hate-threads". You run around on those proclaiming how awful they are but, inadvertently you are really just kicking them to the top repeatedly and helping to keep them alive FYI. Perhaps you don't realize this as those posts from you in those threads don't often appear all that rational. And BTW, are we discerning between legitimate criticism and "hate" or no? Surely you are not demanding a gag on legitimate criticism?

Cause if you're lookin' for lockstep you're in the wrong party and on the wrong forum.

Julie

PS As a disclaimer, I too am against senseless hate-mongering but I do not consider all threads that take issue with someone to be such.

25. Who is talking about lock step. I'm sayin hey post positive stuff about your guy
not just what you hate about people you don't support. Save the hate for the GOP.

That is what I'm saying. I can't believe you'd rather see people tear down our own to prove a point rather than building up their own choice.

People should save the ass rippin for the GOP.

I never said I'd rather see anyone "tear down our own" but I think free and open discussion is a good thing. There's something....democratic about it.

28. How about,
as the supposedly more enlightened end of the human spectrum, we abstain from hating at all, and decide to oppose that which harms, and support that which respects, out of a more positive motivation?
