I feel very sad for my country...
It has nothing to do with being a Democrat or a Republican. My country has lost its respect. With all its faults, it was a great experiment in "democracy". I say that in past tense because I believe we have lost that. We did not lose it accidentally. We gave it away. We surrendered our freedoms to manufactured fears and political advantages. Now, we stand divided as at no time in my memory.

I feel sad because I do not think we can get it back. It is good that "our" Party won the elections last month but I do not feel that the leaders grasp the severity of the situation. Yes, they will legislate around the edges but the status quo will remain the same. I fear for the direction we are going. I do not foresee calm winds ahead.

I certainly believe America can recover. It was Bush and his cohorts who
are held in disdain, not America in general. I talk every day to people who can make the distinction between the Repubs and Demos. We are all hoping the Demos can turn America around.

2. Good grief, don't give up now. We've got some momentum, here.
There was a period of time half a century ago when people were being hunted down and excoriated for being commies--lives and careers were ruined, people were hectored and shamed, and life was pretty hideous for ANYONE who dared to speak out.

We got over that bit--we'll get past this bit too.

Don't invest a little shithead in elevator cowboy boots, or his foolish, blithering cohorts, with more power than is merited. Their authority shrinks with every passing day.

4. I agree with YOU...........
changing of the political guard is good and positive, BUT as long as corporate america controls our airwaves and our legislators, it will be business as usual within the beltway. 'WE' have ALL become 'suspects' in what used to be the 'great democracy'; 'WE' have allowed our privacy and our freedom to be taken away under false pretenses. The lemmings will follow willingly chanting the mantra of the system; the rest of 'US' will fight our way back to the way it should be.

6. I think America can recover. Just so long as they remain not so naive
about patriotism. It seems it was a hard lesson to learn. But once learned.. you keep that skepticism with you and are not fooled so easily the next time. I would have hope for your country. Look what they just did this election? They punished the * WH.
