Cry me a river, Republicans
Here's one congressional Republican reacting to the news that, with Democrats back in charge, Congress will have a longer working week than had been the case under GOP leadership (late Tuesday through Thursday afternoon):
"Keeping us up here eats away at families," said Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.), who typically flies home on Thursdays and returns to Washington on Tuesdays. "Marriages suffer. The Democrats could care less about families - that's what this says."
No, Jack, it says that those serving the people should be in Washington to work, not treat our business like a hobby. It also says that you have absolutely zero perspective on what real work is all about. You want to complain about having to put in the time, Jack? Time that rewards you rather generously, I might add. Tell it to our men and women serving in Iraq. I'm sure they'd appreciate your struggle. At least the ones who are still with us. As for the others, well, maybe their families would appreciate your hardship. Oh, and don't come whining to us about personal responsibility, Jack. You made a choice to seek elective office, knowing full well what that meant. If you don't like it, if you can't handle it, then I'm sure Georgia voters can find someone who can.

1. Once again, a repuke proves that it's not about the people and their families, it's about
republicans in power and their families. Them first.

2. Running and serving in office
It's not like he didn't know this before he ran for political office. Ye cats and little fishes! In the nineteenth century, Congresspeople either brought their families with them to live or spent months away from them. During the Civil War, Sen. Andrew Johnson was the only Southern Senator who did not secede-and while he was in Washington, his family was back in Tennessee. To get back to them, he had to avoid angry mobs ready to lynch him. John Quincy Adams felt that going back to Washington as a Congressman was a great honor (even though he had been President), and literally died in the Capitol as he was enacting the business of the people. These men served their country, and made sacrifices. This Conman is a wimp.
