We should not forget this story.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ibsys/20040209/lo_wdiv/1999775
SNIP..."The candidates have come and gone, but a controversy remains in the wake of Saturday's Michigan Democratic caucus, Local 4's political analyst Emery King reported.

SNIP...."
A coalition of black organizations is calling for the resignation of Mark Brewer, the executive chairman of the Michigan Democratic party.

The group believes there was a deliberate attempt to disenfranchise voters when six caucus sites in Detroit and others in Dearborn, Flint and Ypsilanti were listed incorrectly or switched at the last minute....."

This story was posted about 3 this afternoon. I have not seen anymore on it on TV. Was the situation resolved?

1. Mitch Albom took it to the nation on this afternoon's radio program.
Which is amazing seeing as he is sandwiched between :puke: Limbaugh and :puke: Hannity.

There is a pretty huge divide with the coalition threatening lawsuit if their demands are not met...which they haven't been.

Including the resignation, they are calling for Kerry to come and speak with them about his urban agenda.

There will be more on the news at 11, but unfortunately I will be in bed by then. :(

2. The MI Democratic Party can't be this anal retentive!?
Can't they just thank God it didn't happen in the general election fix the problem and move on? It looks like maybe someone wants someone elses job and this is the easiest way to get it?

Having 2 state chairs is probably more of a problem than Gov. Granholm imagined.

7. That's exactly right
I suspect that this has more to do with jockeying between the pro-Brewer and pro-Hollowell forces than anything else.

I don't think there was any conspiracy, I think it was just sloppiness and carelessness.

Who, among the democrats. stood to gain by depressing turnout in Detroit? No one candidate was so much more popular there than elsewhere that there would be an obvious advantage to anyone.

But Brewer, with his insensitive "Oh well, shit happens" attitude inflamed the situation. Now supporters of Hollowell will use this to beat him over the head with, and the whole party ends up looking bad.

Kerry, as the winner of the caucus, needs to get his ass to Detroit and smooth this out, pronto.

4. As a registered Democrat and one who worked very hard on getting
the vote out in Detroit, I sure do hope something is done. Right now the feeling is all that work for naught. I am sick about it. :(

5. Anything more other than locally?
This should not be ignored. It makes me sad, it brings to mind the roadblocks etc that happened in Florida.

6. Media don't give a shit!
Kerry's the anointed one now. Everyone move along... nothing to see here!

For the love of god our own party doesn't care about disenfranchised voters now!

:wtf:

This whole damn primary is making me sick to my stomach!

8. I am kicking this for the MI folks who did not vote yet.
I have seen nothing on the news about it. I think that is outrageous, and I think our country deserves better than that.
