Don't ask us to blindly trust them, don't expect us to automatically fall in line no matter what they do, don't accuse us of enabling the Republicans, and don't make excuses. I trust the grass and netroots more than I trust any of the candidates once they get into office, so we have to do our part to make sure they don't start thinking they know better than the citizens that voted them in.

1. Amen to that!
Being a good dem doesn't mean letting our candidates or those in office do the same things we realize are wrong. All in office or running for office must be held accountable. No one is going to be perfect, no one will be in agreement on all things but we need to weigh the pros and cons and not let it be ok just because we want a certain person to win or do well.

2. I did something like that last night. One of our
DFA (Change For Kentucky) candidates was at our Christmas/election winners dinner. One, a very smart candidate, won her first run for office. I told her that I am very impressed with her but that my support is conditional on her performance in office. I came out and told her that I would pull my support if she turned into a jerk. I don't think she will, but I just let her know that we won't give anyone a free pass. I think she can go as far as she desires, she's that good, she's that smart, she's that committed.
Listen to her. She will be a force in local and/or national politics someday.

3. and do it before the election, too
I don't want to hear any of this talk about "well once he/she is elected, they can speak frankly about xyz issue."
