Bush was asked whether the study group's report didn't suggest that he, in fact, did not appreciate the extent of the violence coursing through Iraqi streets.

"It's bad in Iraq. That help?" retorted Bush..

"You know, in all due respect, I've been saying it a lot," Bush continued. "I understand how tough it is and have been telling the American people how tough it is. And they know how tough it is."

How about this diplomatic little gem.

"Countries that participate in talks must not fund terrorism, must help the young democracy survive, must help with the economics of the country," Bush said. "If people are not committed, if Syria and Iran is not committed to that concept, then they shouldn't bother to show up."

Nixonian posturing, only with way less substance.

15. What a GREAT cartoon!
Thanks for posting!

I just wrote a column about our little heel-digger-inner (maybe I should just say "heel" and leave it at that):

3. Why, he's not throwing a tantrum at all.
He's just being a "straight talker" who doesn't care whose feelings get hurt (unless of course they happen to be his).

5. He likes to talk so tough, which is one of the bully's biggest faults.
"...if Syria and Iran is not committed to that concept, then they shouldn't bother to show up."

If Syria and Iran is not committed?

As tough as he talks, one wonders why he didn't volunteer to go to Vietnam when he was in the National Guard instead of finding one way after another to avoid serving.

11. Right there, he's rejecting Baker's recommendations
Surrounding countries, including Iran and Syria, need to participate in diplomatic talks to resolve the situation in Iraq. That's what Baker read yesterday.

That spoiled little punk is only going to let the rest of us play by his rules. If that doesn't work, then he'll take his ball and go home. Little Lord Pissypants!!!!!!

16. It's going to get interesting. He was downright pissy during the press conference.
I'm thinking he's not about to let those "citizens", those "seniors", tell him how to do things. He's not going to swallow his pride.

I do wonder, though, if the Little Lord Pissypants continues to mismanage Iraq, will those who actually run the government "allow" him to go down through the impeachment process? I sense a lot of animosity between Baker & the boy king; that, along with Poppy's crying episode in Florida, tells me the boy king might be on his last leg, politically.

10. So apparently "young democracies" is the new horseshit buzzword of the day.
Edited on Thu Dec-07-06 02:01 PM by WritersBlock
What is this crap? An attempt to nurture a maternal "protect the babies" feeling in us?

Bullshit.

Once again, ad nauseum:

The Iraq invasion had NOTHING to do with spreading freedom & democracy.

It had EVERYTHING to do with "control of the region" via the neocon/corporate agenda.

(PS - Thanks for that little gem of a quote today in the press conference today, Mr pResident, because who'd know better about that than you, Fuckwit?)

edited for an addition of a nickname.

13. Dear Chimpy, Please learn to use the proper adjective. Telling people how
'tough' the situtation in Iraq is, does nothing to describe the ghastly violence.

Main Entry: 1tough
Pronunciation: 't&f
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English, from Old English tOh; akin to Old High German zAhi tough
1 a : strong or firm in texture but flexible and not brittle b : not easily chewed <tough meat>
2 : GLUTINOUS, STICKY
3 : characterized by severity or uncompromising determination <tough laws> <tough discipline>
4 : capable of enduring strain, hardship, or severe labor <tough soldiers>
5 : very hard to influence : STUBBORN <a tough negotiator>
6 : difficult to accomplish, resolve, endure, or deal with <a tough question> <tough luck>
7 : stubbornly fought <a tough contest>
8 : UNRULY, ROWDYISH <a tough gang>
9 : marked by absence of softness or sentimentality <a tough critic>
synonym see STRONG

Try describing Iraq as explosive, ferocious, fierce, furious, hot, rabid, rough, stormy, tempestuous, turbulent, volcanic, brutal, savage, vicious; antagonistic, hostile; aggressive, assertive, bellicose, belligerent, combative, contentious, gladiatorial, quarrelsome; frantic, frenzied, mad; destructive, ruinous
