Had an encounter a work today....I work in the deli of a biggish chain
grocery store,a old guy came up today and asked how much our ham was I answered 3.99 a pound he went off with I raise these things and I don't get that much per pound, the government can pay for other things but he can't afford to help the farmer. My reply was , about the only thing the government seems to be able to afford these days is that stupid war. He said well you know if we weren't fighting them there...blah blah blah, I came back with..that's the biggest bunch of bull, the Iraqis did not attack us,he..remember 911, me.. how many of those terrorist were Iraqi? he...it goes further than that, me..well enlighten me, tell me how the Iraqis hurt us. He decided he didn't have the time and left with the parting shot.. you must be a democrat, me.. worse I'm a liberal. Wonder if he'll be back??? I can't believe people still buy this bull!!:banghead:

1. Lot of brain washed people out there...
Mom, you just encounter one of many thousands of brainwashed people out there. Thanks to the ilk of FOX news many people will recite talking points one after another. * I hope will burn in hell when his time comes for decieving people. I've had the same thing happen when some older guy was going on that I should listen to Rush....I told him why I'm not braindead. He then went off on the Liberal thing with me. I pretty much said yup I am and you sir are a brain dead Rush loving asshole who has to be told what and when to think. He now avoids me but I purposely will get into his space.

2. Good work, madmom!!! (however, I fear for your job...)
One thing I've noticed with these types: they will rant and rave using GOP talking points and expect you to stand there and take it, but if you fight back (and particularly successfully based on facts and reason as you did with this "customer"), they'll run off to the manager to complain about the "poor customer service" they received.

:patriot:

4. No sh1t
I' get Ham on sale for about $5.99. It's usually between $7 and $8. I don't buy that crap boiled ham. Which seems like it's small mixed up nasty pieces of meat they form into the shape of a ham. I buy the smoked or honey glazed.

Good job setting the Rush addict straight by the way. Watch yourself though, your paychack is more important than arguing with a numbskull.

5. That's OK, I was behind a guy in traffic that had "Liberals" in big
letters across the back window, with two figures URINATING on either side of the word and with "pro-family" and "pro-life" up in each top corner!!

I nearly flipped out....I just honked as I passed and did some sort of basic "f*ck off" waving of my arms.....

Don't lose your job over this guy....

Hmmm...lessee...

1) You're a farmer
2) You run a hog operation
3) You are probably getting subsidies up the wazoo that you wont admit to (like tax breaks, artificially cheap feed, etc.)
4) You don't understand the basics of the food production industry and retailing
5) Your hogs must instantly morph into cured, packaged and sliced hams the second the leave your property.
6) You are the definitive walking, talking, Faux news watching nimrod.

You folks in retail have my utmost and undying respect to have to put up with assholes all day long. I strive to be nothing but polite even on my worst days to folks in retail.

Hats off to you, madmom.

8. Love that farmer logic......
They all vote repub and they don't do a damn thing for them. They don't understand that the working man needs to make a buck, so they can. My farmer father-in-law ( A Roosevelt Dem)always told me that when the steel workers made big money , they always came to the farm and bought eggs and chickens and "what ever" and he made a good buck too. The best part is they want the government to subsidize them , but don't give a poor person food stamps. If anyone needs to unionize it's farmers...they would bring the country to it's knees in two weeks.....Farmer logic, I love it!
