Next-generation Bush moves to Fort Worth

Next-generation Bush defends uncle
By AMAN BATHEJA
STAR-TELEGRAM STAFF WRITER

Six months after moving to Fort Worth from Dallas, presidential nephew George P. Bush on Wednesday addressed a local Republican group on the future of the GOP and defended an attack on his uncle's immigration policies. Bush, son of Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and nephew of President George W. Bush, spoke at the Fort Worth Republican Women's annual Christmas luncheon at the Petroleum Club in downtown Fort Worth. "Fort Worth is a very special place, and we are absolutely delighted to be citizens of this city," said George P. Bush, who has been touted as a possible contender to further the Bush political dynasty.

Bush is vice president of Charter Holdings, a real estate investment company in Dallas. About six months ago, he moved to Fort Worth with his wife, Amanda Williams Bush, who is an attorney at Jackson Walker in Fort Worth.

"My grandfather always said, 'Never ride on your name,' so I'm trying to distinguish myself in business and law," Bush said. In discussing his grandfather, former President George H.W. Bush, he cited a recent speech in Florida in which the former president shed tears while talking about his son Jeb, the outgoing Florida governor. "It was an example of the raw emotions in politics," Bush said. "It goes without saying that he is my hero."

Bush said his father, Jeb, is looking forward to private life although he plans to remain active in the Republican Party.

Bush described the political beating Republicans took nationwide and in Dallas County last month as "a wake-up call" for Republicans everywhere. He attributed the defeat in part to the Democrats' portrayal of Republicans as creators of a "culture of corruption" in Washington, D.C. "We didn't do a very good job in rebutting that argument," Bush said. ...

it'll be like Hitler. No one with that name will ever get elected to anything.

2. Is this the one caught having sex in a shopping mall parking lot...
with nothing but his socks on? I truly wish this family would just go away. Forever.

6. No..This is the one that stalked his former girlfriend.
And terrorized her family by breaking into their house in the middle of the night. This really is *some* family, isn't it?

8. Think this is the one who broke in his ex-girl friends parents house....
and tore it up.

I get these Bush criminals mixed up. You may be right. This could be the one charged with having sex with an underage girl in the mall parking lot. I do know his sister is the one with about a half dozen drug charges and did jail time and his mother was charged by US customs with smuggling.

Your typical Bush/rethug family values.

14. NO

that one was the youngest of the three progeny of our (soon-to-depart)
governor,I think his name is Jeb, too. He also got had a big to-do
with the law somewhere in Texas while drunk.

George P. is the one that was charged with breaking and entering into
an ex-girlfriend's home. A few other things, too.

The third and I think oldest is Noelle who did time for faking drug
prescriptions and things of that nature.

Mother Columba tried to sneak a few thousand$$ baubles past Customs
from a trip to France. Like our jewellers aren't artistic enough for
her?

Daddy Jeb you all know about. His crowning glory was Terri Schiavo.
That hideous event happened about 10 minutes' drive from where I live.

Hope I got all the events straight, this family is hard to keep up with.

Glad this 'regime' is over, although we are still saddled with a Repug
as governor, Charlie Crist (sp?)

20. LOL..yep that should do it! Can you just imagine the day
the Bush's settle in..how welcome all those secret service people will be in the neighborhood. And they're going to run a check on every person, vehicle and animal that comes close to the area.
A bit of an uneasy feeling living nearby George & laura.

Probably see a lot of property go up for sale in that area as soon as George is Impeached...ha

13. Tarrant County (Fort Worth) is still relatively safe GOP territory
This young Bush is playing his hand well. Fort Worth is now the safest GOP territory in the Lone Star State.

Dallas County just saw a lot of GOP judges and small officeholders get the boot in favor of Democrats. Dallas County, Bexar (pronounced "Bear", y'all) County which is San Antonio, and Harris County (Houston) are all trending back toward Democratic control. Travis County (Austin) is already Democratic. Tarrant County is supposed to stay Republican for years and years after the other large urban counties turn blue.

So, for an ambitious young Bush scion, Tarrant County is the place to be. Unfortunately for him, the Republican tide seems to rolling OUT now even in Tarrant County. Slowly, slowly...but it's not kind of trend that a young Republican would hope for.

15. Granger, Bush & 'Trinity River Vision'- Pork to feed the Republican corruption machine
P is moving to Ft. Worth? No surprise. Rep. Congresswoman Kay Granger has a tidy circle of corruption for him to jump into: the Trinity River Vision and Trinity Uptown.

It is a simple scam. Take half a billion dollars from city, county and federal treasuries and sink it into condo & shops to extend downtown. Oh, how do they plan to get the land owned by dozens of businesses that already there? Easy! Use the government to take it.

It is rotten to the core, but why not? Kay is doing a heck-of a job for the Bass clan that put her in office and she's doing what it takes to make them happy.

18. Bass family owns Ft Worth still?
Its not really a city, more like their own private company town.

Does Perot still have influence down there? I though his son owned a bunch of land north of Ft. Worth.
