"I only hope that the President is listening."
I just received an e-mail from Senator Leahy a few minutes ago. Here, in part is his message:

Yesterday, the Iraq Study Group released its long-awaited report on our presence in Iraq. This bipartisan group sent a clear message to the President: that 'stay the course' proved its failure as a strategy in Iraq long ago.

Instead, we need a credible strategy for withdrawing American troops from Iraq and a path for a political settlement that stabilizes the country.

>> clip

But this report will have relevance only if the President -- the Commander In Chief -- adopts a clear, credible new strategy. You cannot simply say stay the course. You cannot simply proclaim mission accomplished. You have to have a new course.

>> clip

But perhaps the most important thing that this report may achieve is to jolt the White House into a clear-eyed recognition of today's reality in Iraq.

With the release of this report, we now have an opportunity to move beyond rhetoric and focus instead on reality, something which can only mean one thing: dramatic changes in Iraq. I only hope that the President is listening.

I look upon Senator Leahy as one of our "good guys." And I am most distressed that the above message is so very passive, so deferential to our wayward, delusional Decider in Chief.

Mr. Leahy, with all due respect, this unelected and incompetent poseur needs to be removed from office, along with his unelected Vice-President, at the first possible moment. He has done far too much harm already. We the People are weary of half measures. While we wonder if Mr. Bush is listening, our children die, Iraqis and their children die.

Put your ear to the ground, Senator Leahy, and invite your colleagues to follow suit. There's a groundswell of rage in this country over our seeing, as though we are helplessly watching a slow-motion film, our country being swallowed up by a new version of an old theme; to wit: Fascism.

I only hope that you are listening, Mr. Leahy, and that you are spreading the word: Mr. Bush and his friends must go! America and the world can afford them no longer!

have spoken. Implement the ISG report immediately or resign. Now, George!

3. Yeah, I know what you mean. They're still trying to be at least
nominally polite. I don't feel so obligated any longer. We have this saying at our house - of which we reminded our kids when they were little: if you act like a jerk, you're gonna be treated like a jerk.

bush is acting like a jerk. Mainly because he IS a jerk. And I think he deserves to be treated that way. Granted, he's 60 years old. But it's about time somebody started raising him properly.

4. The trouble is...
...his age should suggest maturity, but does not. He is truly, in the eyes of many professionals, mentally incapacitated, and should be removed. But who is going to step up to the plate to escort our own Caligula off to the farm?
