2. I'd have to make that
none ever. I suppose Ike was the last decent one but I was too young to remember much about him so it's just what I have read or heard.

3. Abraham Lincoln in 1860
Maybe U.S. Grant in 1868.

Possibly even Theodore Roosevelt, but it's essentially all been downhill ever since.

5. I'd take a closer look at Ike than contemporary GOPers but probably would've voted for Stevenson

6. None ever. Although I apparently voted for a moderate republican when I voted for Clinton in '92.

In my defense, that didn't become evident until a few years later.

stupid or deluded?

17. Ever heard of Abraham Lincoln?
Things change. The Republicans haven't always been the bad guys.

11. Teddy Roosevelt
None have done anything postitive since him. At least he was an environmentalist, albeit one who hunted bears. But he initiated the National Park system.

13. Woodrow Wilson was a Democrat
I might have voted for Taft based on his being a fairly good Governor General of the Philippines.

He was pro environment and anti-big business in many ways.

18. Ike and, if I had been alive at the time, I probably would have
voted for Harding given how much of a clusterfuck the last two years of Wilson's term were. I'm ashamed to admit it, but looking back without knowing how bad Harding and that brand of Republicans were going to be, I probably would have voted for him. Wilson's second term would have pissed me off to no end.

19. For President...TR...other offices...
I did vote for John Warner in 1990 I believe...he was unopposed at the time and did have a reputation as a thoughtful person and one who would buck his leadership...

While he is still more thoughtful than your avergae Republican much of that has gone away!

24. Ike in '52 (but not 56). Adlai woudn't have ended Korea so quickly, nor stood up in Little Rock
If you're against pointless wars and for progressive politics, you should also have voted for Charles Evans Hughes in 1916.

If he were alive today he'd be a Democrat. Trust buster and environmentalist. I'd vote for him now. He was more anti-corporate than most of the Democrats in the party now.
