William Jefferson will be voted out today.....I think |
|
Mark my words. In a race against 3 other relatively unknown Democrats and a Republican, he only received a measly 30% of the vote, which is pathetic for someone who has represented the same district for 15 years. The runoff is today--a Saturday--and I think the only people who will feel motivated to take time out of their weekends to vote again are the people who want him gone. Even assuming the 13% who voted Republican will stay home, it's still a pretty good bet that Jefferson's majority of 30% will turn into a loss against the combined weight of the 52% that voted for other Democratic candidates.
Unless somebody knows something about Lousiana politics or runoff elections I don't know about, I think we can expect to see Karen Carter as the newest representative of Louisiana's 2nd district. And I think we can all look forward to seeing the most disgraced, expendable Democrat in the House evicted from his seat before Pelosi and the Democratic Majority (feels good to say!) takes control come January.
