Contact the Media About Impeachment Coverage

The Bush Administration has ignored the Constitution. Impeachable offenses need to be investigated. These are two statements that are true, yet are rarely heard via the mainstream American media. We have all seen what complacency in the media can bring. The Iraq War could not have been executed without it. Impeachment is being framed as a distraction or as revenge. It is time for the media to discuss the real evidence that supports Impeachment and leave the opining to the citizens of this country. http://capwiz.com/pdamerica/issues/alert/?alertid=9196431&type=ME

1. impeachment "off the table" is NOT an option
Sometimes I wonder how useful these web petitions and e-mails really are. I wish there was a way we could really hold Rep. Conyers feet to the fire and convince him that taking impeachment "off the table" is NOT an option. Sometimes I feel so dirty and so violated by that man that I feel the need to take an endless shower.:grr:

2. You feel violated by Rep. Conyers? Geeze, get a grip!
Did you ever consider that Conyers might be playing his cards close to his vest? When all the investigating is going on, and the truth emerges, I have a feeling no one will be able to cover up the cry for impeachment from us, the masses. And Rep. Conyers has more integrity in his pinky that most of the House members combined.

3. I agree with babylonsis... As long as investigations are on the table...
...we won't be able to keep IMPEACHMENT from crawling up the leg of the table and sitting smack in the middle of the lovely floral centerpiece with a self-satisfied smirk on its face.

In other words, I'm guessing that, for Reps. Conyers and Pelosi, IMPEACHMENT is off the table till it's on the table again.

6. Yep
And screaming for impeachment now when there's no hope for conviction only gives Faux Snooze fodder for proving how loony we are.

8. Yep.
So let's cower in the corner in our pink tutus for fear of giving Faux Snooze fodder for proving how loony we are... as if they need any fodder for claiming whatever loony ideas they want to claim...

10. Indeed, let the investigations run their course and the people
will be screaming for far more than impeachment.

13. No they won't. Not unless we lay the groundwork NOW.
Kicking back and hoping "the truth will out" doesn't work anymore in a world dominated by a Corporate (therefore RW) Media. Read "Don't Think of an Elephant."

18. My biggest concern here isn't our Reps. I only have a limited...
...influence over them. But I have PLENTY of influence over the people with whom I communicate every day, and they need to be educated about IMPEACHABLE offenses so they're ready when the investigations come barreling down the pike.

22. We've been doing that for years now...
The groundwork is laid.

The pressure needs to be applied directly to the media.

I don't think it would hurt to draft a piece of legislation that would finally shatter the monopoly dreams of the corporate media and let it lurk in the background while Senate chairs spent a little 'quality time' talking to the media moguls about what may and may not be in everyone's interest.

I know this could lead to a massive head-butting competition that might ultimately backfire, but I know there's a way to get the media on the wagon. Between political pressure from the Hill and major grassroots outcry coupled with widespread Boycotts, I know it can happen.

How would you do it?

9. Exactly..
... people need to get a grip. The wheels of justice grind slow, but they grind exceedingly fine.

The calls for impeachment TODAY are nothing but a desire for infantile instant gratification. It would be nice if it were possible, but it isn't.

This is all going to play out over the next couple years. Enjoy the slow, inevitable roasting that is going to visit *most* of these effers.

14. I'm patient, but I'd be negligent if I didn't call for IMPEACHMENT today...
...and help lay the groundwork to make it possible for IMPEACHMENT demands to come when the time is right. Our electeds can't demand it right now - which is why it's OUR duty to do so. We need to educate people why IMPEACHMENT is the only just course, so that when the evidence starts going officially into the record, the public is ready for it.

17. That's right...
... we can say and do what we want, our representative in congress cannot. Impeachment is going to come from a groundswell of the people, us, not a couple crusading politicians.

4. 'VIOLATED' by John Conyers?
Edited on Sat Dec-09-06 05:59 PM by Dr_eldritch
Whoa boy, but you haven't been paying attention, have you?

That's like being the beaten, abused, and molested child of Republicans then turning around and saying the social worker 'violated' you because he didn't give you a lollipop.

You need a lollipop?

PS: Welcome to DU. B-)

19. Forget impeaching Bush...
... it's not worth it - he's gone in less than two years anyway.

The ones we should *really* be looking to get rid of are the Repug Supreme Court justices. If we don't get rid of Roberts, Scalia, Thomas and Alito, they'll be here for twenty more years -- far longer than Bush. That's the *real* danger to this country.

We have the majority...we should push for impeaching these judges now.

20. That's like riding with a maniac driver and saying...
"It's not worth it to jump out of the car - his license expires in less than two years anyway." (Props to whichever DUer first made this analogy.)

TWO YEARS!! Do you realize how much DAMAGE these criminals can do in TWO YEARS??! Of COURSE we need to get rid of the Rape-Publican Supreme Court justices. But how is that an excuse for letting Bush/Cheney** get away with all the evil they have created and MORE??

21. The point, however...
... is that we have the majority now. We may not have it in two years. Since we may only have a limited time in power (and I sincerely hope not - but you know what they say - hope for the best but prepare for the worst), we should make the judges our first priority. Get rid of them first, then go after Bush and Cheney if there's still time.
