Poll question: Will Pelosi entertain impeachment proposals if it came from a Republican? |
|
Edited on Mon Dec-11-06 03:12 AM by Tiggeroshii
Or some Republicans? Investigations will be bound to happen, so iif some Republicans see that the evidence presented gives viable reason to NEEED impeachment, and they propose it, would Pelosi entertain it, contradicting her vowe against doing such?

1. randi rhodes was talking about this on her show last thursday or friday |
|
and was saying that, as of now, we don't have EVIDENCE to impeach (fuckhead could claim plausible deniability or something)
we have got to have hearings FIRST.
in order to nail these fuckers
once the evidence is in then...we'll probably impeach
(also, if it takes too long we can still get them when they are out of office)
maybe pelosi doesn't want to come off too big on impeachment because if we get bush we'll have to get cheney and wouldn't that make her president? maybe she doesn't want people saying she's just doing all of this so she can be president.
"who knows?" (to quote a war criminal)

5. Nancy Pelosi could not become President |
|
unless we somehow impeached both Bush and Cheney concurrently. If we take down Bush, Cheney takes the Oval Office and appoints a VP. If we then impeach Cheney, that VP becomes President. We might need to get Cheney out of the way first, though, since I'm not sure the Constitution allows impeachment out of a higher office from crimes committed in a lower office. And I think it's very important that everything we do is Constitutional when dealing with these criminals.

6. I don't think the new POTUS appoints a new VP |
|
Doesn't a new VP have to be approved by Congress? Couldn't they wait until Cheney was impeached and removed, and then the Speaker becomes POTUS?
A more likely scenario is that a deal is struck with Senate and House Republicans that Cheney gets removed first, and an "acceptable" new VP (Republican, of course) gets put into place, before Bush is impeached and removed. The only downside for us is if the new POTUS is someone who will run in '08, and get an incumbent advantage.

7. Who appoints a new Vice if not the President? |
|
Unless I'm wrong, upon assuming the Presidency Cheney appoints a replacement which must be approved, as you said, by the Senate. This is what previous vice-presidential-successors have done. In that case the new VP would have to be acceptable to the very same body that convicted Bush, so it would have to be a moderate (which in turn would give him or her a good chance to be reelected in '08 and '12). If Cheney goes down first, Pelosi doesn't become VP. She stays in the House. The new VP moves up upon Bush's conviction and appoints yet another new Vice President.

3. It would be an interesting way for them to set themselves up with a credible 2008 candidate... |

...and pull the GOP back from Bush. So there is certainly incentive. Though it's extremely unlikely.

No, don't take it as an encouragement to promote it. It simply an unwanted side effect of my desire to register my disapproval of such a meaningless, pointless, and non-thought-provoking poll. No personal offense intended, however.
Now, however, I'll 'hide thread' so I won't have to see it again no matter how often it's kicked.
