Is the media attempting to divide the Democrats with the Obama/Hillary stories?
As if they were the only two people that "might" run for the Presidency? It should be noted neither of them has announced. The candidates that have announced, Kucinich and Vilsack, get no news. The "race" is between Hillary and Obama, they tell us. How are the other candidates supposed to feel about that? Intentional or not, it seems these types of stories will donothing but divide the Democratic Party. Just my opinion...

1. Nah, they are trying to construct something to draw viewers.
Nothing has changed.

2. Seems like the Repubs
with the help of the corporate media would like to pick our candidates for us. I'm sure they have our best interest at heart but I still feel WE should pick our own.

3. No, I don't think so.
I think that they are just trying to sell more luxury SUVs, shampoo, beer, jewelry, or something.

That's the only reason I can figure out that the news media would want to keep this country in permanent, year-in/year-out campaign mode. We just had a big national election and it is over a year before the next one becomes important. If somebody would suddenly drop in from outer space and watch any of the major media news programs one could not be blamed if one thought that there was another election coming up right around the corner.

I am very tired of all this 2008 talk, both on the media and here on DU. It's all entirely pointless. I wish everybody, especially CNN, would give it a rest.

4. Yes, and they know people in this country are celebrity nuts and they are
playing it loud. Us, They, People, Them, We or whatever the hell the magazines will be on this like flies on s---. In a month, it will be settled: Obama and Clinton are "running". Then they will start with the dirt on both. (They have been throwing the dirt on Hillary for years.)

5. I keep hoping it backfires on them big time and Democrats - from
the most active to those who do nothing but vote in primaries - decide to vote for the best candidate - someone who isn't annointed by the corporate media (because the corporate media would die before they'd talk about a real populist candidate).

6. They just want a "good show"
The last series -- Nov. 06 -- is over.

So now it's time for the next storyline.

I don;t think the media is trying to divide the democrats. They just need a new script for their Reality TV show "American Idol/Democracy"

7. The media is very, very powerful....and they know it.
They are shaping the field as potential candidates ponder their chances, and it is their hopes that some will opt out feeling overwhelmed by the free publicity given to Hillary and OBama. But as soon as Obama and Clinton announce, the media will change its tune.

It is public opinion manipulation at its highest echalon here in the United States......the corporate media attempting to affect our politics in the most "American Idol" way imaginable. What's odd is that they don't this to the degree that they have the Democrats to the Republicans. They take polls on the GOP candidates and leave it at that...but no 24/7 coverage of them at all. Some reporting cited on McCain wanting more troops, Rudi G. being too socially liberal and Romney being too mormon maybe...but that's about it; no media onslaught! Now why would that be? Think about it!
