The Ten Biggest Losers of 2006
10) Ann Coulter

Her despicable attack on 9/11 widows helped turn-off people from conservatism

9) Rush Limbaugh

His disgusting attack on Michael J. Fox probably cost the Republicans their senate seat in Missouri

8) Katherine Harris

After her disastrous senate run, this will hopefully be the last we ever hear from her

7) George Allen

Through several idiotic mistakes, he went from being a strong incumbent to a one-term nobody

6) Mark Foley

Surprise. Surprise. Another Republican pervert

5) John Bolton

Adiós, Wackjob

4) Karl Rove

Although he managed to weasel his way out of an indictment, apparently the voters were sick of his bullshit

3) Donald Rumsfeld

Good Riddance to the worst Secretary of Defense in our nation's history

2) Dick Cheney

Now has the distinction of being the second vice president (the first being Aaron Burr in 1804) to shoot a man

...and last and certainly least:

1) George W. Bush

Newsflash, Georgie. WE'RE the deciders.

2. To this list I would add Dennis Hastert,
who, through his inattention to the corruption in his caucus, lost his Speakership and is now reduced to a mere congressman. And yes, Republicans can thank Rush for losing them the Senate by his on air antics. Thanks Rush!

6. Well, there have been so many contenders
Like Delay, the most corrupt politician Texas has ever seen, which is one hell of a statement for anyone to make.

Cunningham, clearly one of the stupidest men on the planet, who not only got caught wiith his hands in the till, got his fingers slammed in it, and pointed the way to:

Abramoff, whose tentacles of corruption reached into every single GOP elected official's office but whose brand of "honor" prevented him from bribing Democrats, thus showing people just which party was screwing them hardest, Buh bye, hope your cellmate thinks you're cute.

Scooter Libby, who was thrown under the bus by his boss Cheney as a sop to an investigator who really didn't want the kind of trouble it makes to nail an obscenely rich VP in an election season.

Dishonorable mention: Kennyboy Lay, who screwed millions out of their retirements and then found out the only way to escape prison was to die---and he couldn't take a cent with him.

10. Add Rick and Lincoln
I would add Rick Santorum to that list. The man thought he had a chance and that the 12 point margin was much closer. Well, the 12 point margin was wrong. He lost by 20 points. Lastly, I would add Lincoln Chafee. The guy doesnt agree with most of what Bush says, but because he is Republican, he loses.

15. He has worse approval ratings than Bush; remove head from sand.
it's been a bad year for him. He's gone from potential front-runner, to probably not running.

"John Kerry is an authentic American war hero."

Watch the reaction. At best, people will acknowledge that he served. At worst, they will laugh at you. But he is. If anyone can claim to be an authentic American war hero it's John Kerry. He volunteered for the Navy out of Yale. He volunteered for Vietnam. He volunteered for Swift Boat duty. He was wounded three times and received three Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and a Bronze Star with Combat V.

Wait a minute. We know what you're thinking. But call anyone you know who has served in combat with the Navy, in World War II, in Vietnam or since. And ask them: does the Navy just hand out Purple Hearts like jelly beans? They'll laugh at you and tell you 'Of course not. There are procedures and paperwork.' No one gave those medals to John Kerry - he earned them. He is a war hero. But people "just don't like him."

And then there's Al Gore. Al Gore is one of the most remarkable leaders our country has had over the past twenty-five years. A Vietnam veteran, Congressman and Senator, Al Gore was visionary on Global Warming and the environment, actually did lead the development of the Internet, was an active Vice President fully participating in the administration that gave this country its finest years of the last forty.

Next, look at the background of Gore's opponent in the 2000 Presidential Election. And imagine that, remarkably, when all was said and done character emerged as the dominant theme of the 2000 campaign and it was Vice President Gore's character that was being called into question!

Just think about that for a minute - consider what kind of psychological manipulation of the public had to happen before that could be the case.

11. Can I nominate a state for No. 11?
I would nominate my state of Tennessee: for having fallen for the dirtiest campaign since the Bush/anybody campaign and electing the only NEW Republican into a Republican MINORITY Senate, which, of course, means that Tennessee, sorely needing in funds for new projects, will get bupkus.

12. I have to disagree on one point....
"Katherine Harris. After her disastrous senate run, this will hopefully be the last we ever hear from her."

I would hate to be deprived of such a prime source of entertainment. I hope Bush appoints her as Undersecretary of something or other, so we can continue to laugh at her.

Of course, if the "something or other" were some agency that affected me personally, I wouldn't find it quite so funny.
