Gov Rounds "Don't be a Dick" Blogspot
Edited on Thu Dec-14-06 12:44 PM by demdiva
First, of course we all hope for Senator Johnson's full and speedy recovery ...reall we do.

However, a very industrious blogger is calling on Governor rounds to consider appointing a dem if need be.

http://heydontbeadick.blogspot.com/

The home of the movement to encourage Governor Mike Rounds (R-SD) to not be a dick. If Senator Johnson passes away or resigns due to his health problems, we advocate he appoint an experienced Democrat to replace him. Dude, seriously, don't be a dick.

I don't know South Dakota politics well, but thinking long term politically, it may be better for Rounds to appoint a dem and show that he's not "partisan" and that he heard the voice of the America people.

What do you think? Would he ever do it? Would it be to his advantage?

1. I doubt he'd do it. Why should he?
In 2000, when Repuke Senator Paul Coverdell died in office, Democratic Georgia Governor Roy Barnes appointed ex-governor Zell Miller (*gag*), a so-called Democrat, to fill the unexpired term. Governors are free to do as they please in these cases, but sometimes with unexpected results. Poor old Roy lost his bid for re-election, and we all know what a horror Zell turned out to be.

2. Because maybe it would be good for garnering bipartisan support in SD

Like I said I don't know SD well, but since they have a Republican governor and a Democratic Senator they must be fairly large independent center.

3. He already is a dick
He is that cruel snake that signed that draconian abortion law that would have put desperate rape and incest victims into the hands of back-alley abortionists.
