1. Clark would balance Edwards lack of experience...
...with his military background and foreign policy creds.

5. I don't see Clark as a Veep... SecState perhaps, SecDef maybe, NSA could be...
...but stepping into the suit of a Veep? Don't think so.

That'd be a dramatic waste of his enormous talents and contributions to federal government, especially now, when foreign policy and national security are in such an enormous quagmire.

Veeps are above all useful for political and domestic purposes: especially, to deal with Congress, which requires a lot of bureaucratic stomach; I don't fancy the second place on the ticket for Wes Clark. He's an idea and action plan guy - that's where he shines. I see him preferably in the top spot on the ticket; else, elsewhere in an administration.

Let's put it this way: I appreciate Wes' qualities way too much to relegate him into a role heavily burdened by the bureaucracy, backstabbing and political nitpicking that goes with it.

Seeing his name added to the ticket as a second name is of course awfully nice and good for us Clarkies, but I believe more than anything that a role where he can really shine is much better - not in the least for the entire country and beyond.

Just my $0.02! :)

Not after the Shelton thing.

Though at this point I'm hoping he wins the Nom over Edwards.

3. Feingold
I would say Feingold, because he would help solidify the upper Midwest of Minnesota, Iowa, and Ohio. Clark wouldn't be a bad choice either. Richardson would be another option.

4. I like Feingold.
He's also far more charismatic and a lot more of a politician than Clark is. Of course, that might also be why so many like Clark -he isn't a career politician.

give him progressive cred.

8. Yeah, just like Clinton / Gore - now that was a loser ticket...
...after all they lost two terms straight in a row, right? :D

More seriously, I don't think two "Southern" candidates is an electoral no-no, especially if they're Dems.

Perhaps if you supported that statement with an actual analysis. Like the one that comes to a different conclusion see link above.

20. I disagree
2 Southern democrats will ensure a blue vote in all the "Kerry blue states" & then some. People in the northeast & west are going to be hard pressed to vote for a republican no matter who they are especially after Bush.

If it weren't for that I would have said Bob Graham as a possibility. But as you suggest I don't think two southerners would work.

23. I don't think the North-South thing holds much water anymore
in terms of picking a White House combo. In today's political climate, I think Northerners would enthusiastically vote for a Billy Bob Thornton / Faith Hill ticket if they ran as Dems.

Maybe the other way around - now you'd be talking - Clark/Edwards

But frankly I prefer Clark/Warner, Clark/Webb (the Army/Navy ticket), Clark/Sebelius,
Clark/HRC, Clark/Schweitzer, or Clark/Obama.

16. That one "could" work!
Patches that Foreign policy hole in Edwards' resume nicely. Ironic though that a former Sec of Energy/U.N. Ambassador/2 term Governor of a Southwestern state would be what qualifies as a Veep to a one term former Senator.

But This is America, so I should'nt be totally surprised.

37. Actually, I find it flattering to my candidate that so many
want him as VP to whomever they support.

But, the fact remains that Clark probably would not run as anyone's VP - he may, but I think he'd rather not waste his talents in that role - and, after some of the things I've heard Wes Clark Jr. say, I REALLY doubt he would run with Edwards.

35. Blanche Lincoln
Moderate, female, from a purple state with a Dem governor (who would appoint her potential Senate replacement), an excellent campaigner who would only shore up Edwards's (if he's the nominee) appeal in swing states.

41. Richardson makes alot of sense for Edwards
Bill Richardson would give Edwards a boost in the southwest/with latino populations. This would perfectly compliment Edwards' regional appeal in the south and his populist appeal in the rust belt. Edwards/Richardson would be an excellent ticket.

Richardson is also very experienced and would help defuse charges of inexperience.

It should be Clark, he's just saying that now becuase he wants a shot at the title. But when he loses the primary, he'll rethink the VP spot.

I think Edwards would choose Bayh or Richardson. I'm not sure Edwards will be as strong in the South as Clinton was, so he def needs to re-inforce the South and the West.

48. Schweitzer is a real rising star but with only minimal experience.
Isn't he just in his first term as governor?

But maybe there have been veep candidates with such a short government resume. I don't know. I do know that I like Schweitzer a lot, after hearing him on Al Franken's show a few months back. He sounds genuine, a real Westerner, and he has good environmental ideas. He would appeal to the male voter, I think (not being male myself that is what I surmise!).
