Senator Chafee to Take Post at Brown University
NYT/AP: Rhode Island: Senator to Take Post at Brown University
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: December 16, 2006

Senator Lincoln Chafee, Republican of Rhode Island, has accepted a job at Brown University after losing his seat to Sheldon Whitehouse, a Democrat, last month. Mr. Chafee will start in January as a distinguished visiting fellow at the Watson Institute for International Studies. He will lead an undergraduate study group on American foreign policy and will work on writing projects. One of the Senate’s most liberal Republicans, Mr. Chafee was chosen to fill the Senate seat in 1999 after the death of his father, Senator John Chafee. He won election to it the following year. Before that, he was mayor of Warwick and a City Council member. Mr. Chafee earned a classics degree from Brown in 1975.

2. The poor guy should have switched parties.
If he had, he would still be in office.

4. Glad to see him land on his feet- and also to work with undergrads!
Had he pulled a "Jeffords," I'm pretty sure that he would have easily won another term.

It's nice to see that undergrads have a chance to work with a former senator. That's a great opportunity for them, and also for Senator Chafee- I hope all benefit from the arrangement.
