Pollsters Silence Impeachment Talk
From Bob Fertik of democrats.com over at dKos:
This week, Bush's approval ratings plunged towards record lows in every major poll.

Also this week, local activists organized over 60 enthusiastic impeachment events and began collecting 1 million signatures for impeachment. Outgoing Rep. Cynthia McKinney introduced Articles of Impeachment in Congress, while Liz Holtzman and David Swanson debated impeachment with Hannity and Colmes.

So you might think pollsters would connect the dots and ask Americans whether they support Bush's impeachment.

But you would be wrong.

1. I'd be bothered if folks just signed to impeach without hearings...that is what they did to Clinton-
and all the hearings they eventually had were so offensively partisan as to stink up the entire tidal basin. It was disgraceful.

Because the GOP behaved like such fucks, I think the Democrats are slowing down to "serve as an example" to the history books.

If hearings turn up some stink, though, the 'IMPEACH! cry could throw down some roots! And hopefully, we wouldn't be chomping at the bit OR rubbing our hands together with glee...we'd be relieved that a dangerous guy was neutralized, but still sad that it came to that AND still worried about the future of our executive branch, and its effectiveness.

When there's that delicate tension between the legislative, judiciary, and executive branches, it just WORKS.

When one can screw over the others, it's like having the ROCK/PAPER/SCISSORS rules suddenly changed so that scissors can magically cut rock. It just fucks everything up! I honestly feel as though BushCo is the scissors, and we've been the old WTF ROCK all these years.....

2. If they're "impeachment" hearings ... but the reality here is "Reverse Clinton"
The actions are admitted to by the regime. Alreadly ruled on by the USSC in Hamdan. And as war crimes, clearly impeachable offenses.

There is really nothing to "turn up" that's not already known. It is the "defense," which is a claim to have authority to "screw over" the other branches that must be thwarted. Otherwise the new Congress (and thus the American People) become complicit with the Geneva violations.

That condition would be worse than the crimes themelves. Worse than Iraq. Worse than the Stolen Elections. Worse than 9/11.

Even if the DC Dems awake to the peril and we dodge the bullet, it's certainly no cause for glee.
