Obama/Clinton media coverage is way OVERBLOWN!!!!!
enough already JESUS!!! the Presidential election is two years away and the media is acting like the election is next year around the corner. its nothing but HILLARY OBAMA talk nothing about Edwards intering the race. which in my opinion is the odds out favorite.Randy made a good point last week saying the only reason they both are getting major coverage is because she's a woman and he's a african american

1. If it's likely to inflame the neocon bigots, it gets the coverage
Certainly you must know the drill by now?

2. This is state of the Media now.
Covering campaigns is all they know how to do. No investigative reporters needed just send a camera crew to follow someone who wants to be TV. With all the issues that need looking into they don't have anyone to investigate a story anymore. The News Media has been reduced to Press Release Readers.

3. Wow - the race card!

So she thinks that Edwards isn't getting as much coverage as Obama because he's a White man? Sorry, but that doesn't fly.

Edwards isn't getting as much coverage as Obama because right now he's not making any news. He's not a new face. He's not drawing huge crowds in Iowa and New Hampshire. Everyone, including stuffed animals, knows he's going to announce he's running for president, so there's no reason for anyone to hang on to his every word and watch his every move right now.

He's likely to announce at the end of the month that he's running (surprise!). When he does, it will be a different story. But right now, Edwards is not a story. THAT's why no one's talking about him. On the other hand, Obama IS a big story.

In late 2002 and 2003, Edwards couldn't BUY press coverage because Howard Dean, the new face, was sucking all of the air out of the room. But he went on to come in second in Iowa.

Edwards is not being picked on because he's a White man. This has nothing to do with race.

5. Regardless whose take it is, it's still bull!

But I've change my post to reflect that it's Randi's view.

I am really sick of this damned if you do damned if you don't attitude. If the press WEREN'T covering Obama right now, people would be complaining that 1) the press was dissing Dems; or 2) the press was ignoring him because he's Black.

He's getting lots of coverage right now because he IS a story.

I expect this kind of bull from Republican bigots. But it's outrageous, in my view, that so-called liberal Democrats are throwing around this crap.

6. it's entertainment
press hype for ratings. I'm glad Obama's getting coverage, he's a new fresh face and people need to get to know him, which will be useful if he runs. But for known figures, this media overexposure could hurt them. Hillary hype could cause Hillary fatigue, heck! she even looks exhausted! I hope the Edwards announcement is delayed till spring '07, i don't want people to burn out on him, which could happen if he announces now ... the media will probably get tired of the Obama and Hillary sitcoms, and they'll need a new candidate for their entertainment ratings.

7. I would rather have the media obsess over Obama than over
McCain the way they did in 2000. I see Obama more as the anti-McCain than the anti-Hillary. And anything that gets the media to take a second look at McCain before they exalt him like they did before is a plus for me.

9. Obama can't help it cause he's popular!
It's almost like people are blaming him cause everyone likes him! He has a #1 best seller. He draws crowds never seen before in N.H. this early. He's new, he's fresh, he's likeable. Why shouldn't the media cover him? Edwards is already boring. We know everything about him. He's ran before. He's yesterday's news.
