The KEY WORDS of Colin Powell on Face the Nation: Iraq in CIVIL WAR and has been |
|
since EARLY THIS YEAR. Just as Murtha, Kerry and Feingold were saying in their withdrawal plans. EVERY SEnator has known since early this year that Iraq is in Civil War and too many refuse to even acknowledge it TODAY, and certainly REFUSED to do so last June when Iraq withdrawal was submitted BECAUSE of the reality of that Civil War.
Too many Dems as well as most Repubs WON'T acknowledge or use the words Civil War because it means a new use of military force Resolution MUST be drawn up and voted on in the Senate.
What Colin Powell said this morning was IMPORTANT to the debate, and too few are keying on the import of his words about Civil War. In my opinion, Powell used those terms deliberately and wanted people to realize that DC lawmakers have known the truth for almost a year.
I doubt Powell will ever tell all he knows, but on this I will give him a qualified nod. The terminology MATTERS - there is no legal mission for the US military to be involved in a civil war - period.

1. The Congress should vote to rescind the Iraq War Resolution |
|
We couldn't get the Congress to rescind the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, even after it became clear the country was lied to by the Johnson Administration. The result: thousands died because of Congressional inaction.
Let's not repeat the same mistake here. Repeal IWR!

3 times. They alone can deal with the reality of their Civil War. We can only train their military and their law enforcement and leave their political decisions to work out between themselves and the region's effected countries' leaders.
Civil War means a new Resolution must be brought to the floor and Warner admitted as much last summer.

3. An illegitimate election conducted under American jackboots |
|
It was also an election that was largely boycotted by the Sunis because they feared for their lives.
We must leave NOW!

4. Certainly - but still one that THEY have to deal with. The point is that Civil War |
|
is a reality, and any lawmaker, GOP or Dem, who dances AROUND the words Civil War has been dancing around them since EARLY THIS YEAR. We know it and THEY know it. Do they care enough about the truth, about REALITY, and about the CITIZENS they speak with to TELL the unvarnished truth and DEAL with it as they are charged to do?

5. Something else he said I thought was important |
|
IN addition to his assertion that more troops wouldn't necessarily help -- he brought up the all-important term MISSION. What would be the MISSION of those more troops? What is the MISSION now?
D'uh!

6. Exactly - and IWR has NO MISSION in it for Civil War. The original MISSION has been completed |
|
and there has been regime change and the three votes.
The terminology is KEY to what happens next.

7. K&R. We're taking back our country and our language. |

From a monkey who can't even pronounce half the words he uses.
It's a little late, but it's gotta start sometime.
