5. I believe it. Edward is the only potential candidate |
|
who could derail Hillary's candidacy. He has the money, support, experience, and personality to beat her in the primaries, especially in the south. I don't think he actually will, but he has the potential. Obama is just too new, he has a great personality but also has a lot of handicaps (name, lack of experience in national politics, money, race). Of course, Al Gore could give her a run for her money, but he has said he's no longer interested in politics. I don't know if I believe that or not, but he seems to be pretty serious.

Obama is raising a lot of money, but Bill Clinton has said that Edwards is a great candidate in 2004, so it does not surprise me that Edwards is the greater threat to Hillary.

7. I just know the period between now & November 2008 |
|
is gonna make me totally nuts. I don't have much equanimity or balance left after everything since 2000. I think it would be best for me to get off the Internets, cancel the paper & go hibernate somewhere for 2 years. But of course I know I won't do that.

10. All Edwards has to do is start spouting his 'fighter for the little guy" vs. Hillary dining with |
|
Rupert and Newt...
Do public penance continually for his Iraq vote, and he's got half his primary victories wrapped up. Come out strong for the environment, against NAFTA and CAFTA, and for universal health care and he's got them all wrapped up.
Whomever attacks "free trade" vs. "Fair Trade" has the entire Lou Dobbs crowd bought hook line and sinker.
It is going to be imperative in my opinion to win in the primaries and in 08. That and health care. The troops in their barracks will be the hat trick.

13. She knows Edwards is appealing in many ways beyond mere media hype. |
|
Obama also has skeletons in his closet that are sure to come out. His star will fizzle fast if he runs, but since he won't be running (mark my words) that's all irrelevant.

Are you applying to be the new Karl Rove? IF there are skeltons in anyones's closet thaye will likely be found out. Stating as a given that any canmdidate has skeletons is disgusting.

15. I think she's afraid of BOTH of them.... |
|
Especially if Obama decides to mount a serious campaign.
She's probably also very nervous about the idea of a Clark candidacy too....although her friends in the MSM are doing their best to maintain the moratorium on any mention of Clark's name in the headlines.

Yeah, but we're still go to hear "jack and diane" every time he goes on stage. Besides Mellencamp can sell his songs to anyone - and he supports Edwards so now all he has to do is play 'pink houses' and everyone will vote for him.

I think there are plenty of folks who will run that will make the race interesting.
But I happen to like "Our Country". The lyrics do seem to fit Edwards' theme pretty well.

28. Mellencamp's "Small Town" was his theme in '04 |
|
"...But Ive seen it all in a small town Had myself a ball in a small town Married an l.a. doll and brought her to this small town Now shes small town just like me
No I cannot forget where it is that I come from I cannot forget the people who love me Yeah, I can be myself here in this small town And people let me be just what I want to be
Got nothing against a big town Still hayseed enough to say Look whos in the big town But my bed is in a small town Oh, and thats good enough for me..."

20. Hillary has more to worry about in my view |
|
It's not just that she is contacting folks about the direction our country is going in or should go in...it's that she has no vision in what it should go in or any heart in which it could. It's about polls and her ego.

21. I don't subscribe to rumors |
|
particularly when it presumes to state how someone else feels. However, I will say that IMO it is a good thing that there are several strong contenders in the field because the competition will only serve to strengthen the ultimate candidate that gets the nod.

Our field is fabulous :loveya:
I like lurking on the GOP blogs (not freepervilles), and I just don't get the sense of the passion any of them have about any in the GOP field. After the holidays, I'll put a post together with links to some really thought provoking conservative blogs that are nicer discussing our Democratic candidates than their own :D

And yes, I say this as a Clark supporter.
Give me Edwards or Obama over Hillary any day.

25. I can't imagine why she would be. |

he is a completely known quantity, and is best known for not winning. he is a senator (not good as far as presidential politics go) that only served a single term (even worse) because there was serious doubt as to whether or not he could win reelection (worse yet).
AND he has been on the campaign trail for two solid years, and can't seem to put any distance between himself and the rest of the pack.
now, he did seem to show a periodic spark on the campaign trail, and one of his biggest problems seemed to be that the kerry people buried him in backwaters for nearly the entire election. perhaps they were afraid edwards would outshine the guy at the top of the ticket, who knows?
but he needs more than his "two americas" speech.
