3. I tend to focus on one forum at a time
But I have been active in others from time to time. I spent the last year slumming in Myspace on their political philosophy and religious discussion forums. I occaisionally post in the internet infidels forum.

6. Let's see
Well, I got kicked off hannity.com in under 48 hours.
Truthout apparently didn't want truth anymore so they closed the forum.
Even the "progressive" dailykos shut me off.
Yes, censorship is alive and well here in the land of the "free".
Myspace refused to list my profile on the search, based on my content I can only surmise.
Only "approved" thoughts can be posted!

18. ??
I'm surprised you've managed so many posts in this forum. You are right about the censorship thing.

Not so good to talk about that elephant herd in the room. But who's doing running the pooper scooper?

8. Neutral Underground
I don't go there much. There are freeper types there as well as a few liberals and it's like talking to a brick wall. Most of the discussions devolve into petty name calling.

14. I'm more of a Usenet person
I subscribe to alt.politics.liberalism and alt.society.liberalism, both of which are very active newsgroups. Although there are some intelligent regulars there who post interesting material, one must still weed out a lot of garbage due to excessive cross posting to alt.fan.rush-limbaugh and various Republican newsgroups.

This is the only non-Usenet forum on any topic that I read regularly. I quite like it here.

15. I'd recommend -- www.roddenberry.com
It's a messageboard forum run and maintained by Eugene W. Roddenberry, son of the late Gene Roddenberry (Star Trek). (The Roddenberrys seem to be fairly liberal people). I'd highly encourage you to register (it's free!) and post there, as a way of expanding your persuasive skills beyond merely "preaching to the choir" (not that it's a waste of time posting at DU, but you can only get so far exposing your arguments to the same people over and over again).

A lot of the individuals boards/forums over there are more entertainment-based, geared toward sci-fi fans.

However, there is one specific forum called "The Point of View," which gets into many different political discussions. There's a pretty good mix of progressives, liberals, moderates, and conservatives there...for the most part, most everyone there is fairly polite and respectful during political discussions (even the more conservative-to-moderate leaning individuals).

Forewarning: the one exception is a very closed-minded and bigoted member of the forum whose screen name is "Knightstorm" - - he's socially-conservative and practically worships Ann Coulter. He's already made up his mind about what he believes, and there's obviously no getting through to him INDIVIDUALLY on issues (although dissecting his arguments in that public forum is a great way of persuading OTHER FORUM MEMBERS there, by example)...however, it is worth noting that he is very well-educated and articulate (despite so many of his arguments being pure bullshit), so partaking in the (admittedly futile) discussions with him is a great way to hone your debating skills and your interpersonal approaches in preparation for confrontations with extreme conservatives (often times public figures) who are a lot less well-spoken and well-educated. Just don't let "Knightstorm" chase you away or frustrate you too much with his red herrings and distraction tactics (it's a tall order, but think of interactions with him as a "dry run" for confronting Neocons and Wingnuts in the offline real world).
