Thjat's the talk in the Bay Area, but who would run against her?
I've also been hearing rumors that Jackie Speier will be challenging Tom Lantos in a primary!

As a comparison, other nearby Dems like George Miller won by over 80%. As we all know in the adjacent CA-11 seat, Jerry McNerney defeated Republican congressman Pombo, an historic victory just as Tauscher's victory was in her first term because both CA-10 and CA-11 have large blocs of conservative Republicans and moderate Democrats.
Tauscher managed to garner only two thirds of the vote against nominal opposition from a Republican. IMHO a serious Democratic challenge for the next primary would require a known Democrat in this district with a record that isn't too liberal. I'm trying to imagine who that might be. There is no strong Democratic challenger among the mayors in her district. The likely candidate would either be a neophyte or perhaps someone from the CA assembly or senate ranks - Tom Torlakson, if he lives in the district although I think he lives in CA-8.
More likely, the issue will be whether the Republicans will have a stronger candidate someone like Guy Houston (former mayor of Dublin and now assemblyman for much of the East Bay portion of Tauscher's district.)

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/12/18/193856/62That's how you change a party that is so pro-war and pro-business. Lieberman won with Republican support, but not everyone will be able to do that. Yes, she will have opposition.
