Chris Matthews: "Not always so obvious to the cretins who got us in to this war that real people
Edited on Tue Dec-19-06 08:10 PM by beaconess
are paying the price for their mistake." Hardball, December 19, 2006

So now Bush, et al, are "cretins?"

Interesting change of tune from a couple of years ago when Matthews was swooning over the ever-so manly Bush Bush and his buddies were brilliant, manly and "noble:"

May 8, 2003:

MATTHEWS: What do you make of this broadside against the USS Abraham Lincoln and its chief visitor last week?

G. GORDON LIDDY: Well, I -- in the first place, I think it's envy. I mean, after all, Al Gore had to go get some woman to tell him how to be a man.

And here comes George Bush. You know, he's in his flight suit, he's striding across the deck, and he's wearing his parachute harness, you know -- and I've worn those because I parachute -- and it makes the best of his manly characteristic.

You go run those -- run that stuff again of him walking across there with the parachute. He has just won every woman's vote in the United States of America. You know, all those women who say size doesn't count -- they're all liars. Check that out.
. ..

MATTHEWS: Let's let him talk for himself. Here's President Bush expressing his confidence that he did the right thing.
(VIDEO CLIP)
. . .

MATTHEWS: You know what struck me about that? The part that couldn't have been faked, which is the faces of the troop{s}.

LIDDY: Yes. Did you see when they -- when they ran the Clinton one? Pretty much the same thing. They're all there just like that, stone faces, and here, they're just all over him.

MATTHEWS: They just love him.

LIDDY: They're loving him.

MATTHEWS: I think that's a bonding that we're seeing right there. We're watching it now, Gordon. It's pretty impressive bonding between him and these guys. I mean they did win the war together, and he was their commander in chief.

Hey, Chris - did it ever occur to you that you're partly responsible for the fact that those "cretins" don't understand how the war is impacting ordinary Americans since it was YOU and your drooling buddies like the creepy felon G. Gordon Liddy who enabled them gin up the war and, in so doing, helped build the bubble that they now function in.

It's nice that you've finally gotten with the program, but it's a little late now.

Shame on you!

17. He says now that he didn't support this war in the beginning
I don't think that's true. I remember he used to bully people on his show who were critical of the war.

3. Gee I wonder
if the tailored flight suit, the socks and codpiece stuffed in bush's pants helped to make people think he was a MAN. I bet he loves dressing up.

8. First of fucking all..just to set the
record straight, Al Gore's advisers did not hire Naomi Wolff to show him "how to be a man". It was a freakin' earth tone color scheme they were coming up with that got into the insane wing liar machine and regurgitated lies on shit.

Al Gore's family can attest to what kind of man he is and the USA can see these last six years that the real winner of the 2000 selection should have damn well been inaugerated!

chimpy the cod.

15. it was not a mistake . . . mistake implies an unintentional screw-up . . .
Iraq was very, very intentional . . . it was (and is) a crime, not a mistake . . . in fact, it's a whole bunch of crimes, including war crimes and crimes against humanity of the highest order . . .

23. They could never make a Chris Mathews doll
because the string would have to be nine hundred miles long.

I'm surprised that people who go on his show don't learn sign language ahead of time so that they can get a few words in edge wise.

24. "The cretins who got us into this war"--present company included?
Edited on Thu Dec-21-06 04:09 PM by rocknation
Is he honestly THAT oblivious to the fact that he was--and still is--one of Georgie's top aiders and abetters? Obviously it would have MUCH been more useful for Chris to say such things sooner (even at the risk of receiving an envelope containing either white powder or a pink slip). But without an admission that he was wrong and an apology for being so unfair and unbalanced, his calling the Bush empire cretinous now comes across as--well, unfair and VERY unbalanced.

Perhaps Tweety needs his memory refreshed. Where's Symbolman and AndyHappy? A video/audio montage of the Best Of Tweety is a Peabody award just begging to happen!
