Hillary 2008: Taylor Marsh Nails it...
Hillary tops St. McCain

But people need to quit ignoring Hillary Clinton, who's building a serious foundation along the way to announcing her candidacy. There's another issue, regardless of her CENTRIST tendencies, and I'm not talking about the Big Dog's power, or even the fact that Senator Clinton lacks in the speaking department. It's the reality that the first woman president is an EVENT many people will want to honor and work hard to support. The moment she does make the announcement all the oxygen will be sucked out of the room.

If anyone wants in they'd better do it early.

11. She's my senator - I'd support her
Though I've seen her speak many times and I've never gotten the impression that she's in the same intellectual league as Hillary, unfortunately...

17. One of the most moving speeches I EVER
heard was Barbara Boxer's Senate speech against going into Gulf War I. It was a bleak bleak day. It was a serious moment in the Senate. I was in favor of the military action to get the Iraqis out of Kuwait and it was Boxer's speech that got me to look more closely at the issue. If you admire Barbara Boxer see if you can find that speech. You will be really proud of her.

4. Big Endorsement From Bush Today!
Bush now wants to enlarge the military - just like Mrs. Clinton's been urging, for a few years now!

6. I'm sure they would; except not THAT woman.
Too bad that Obama is a man. Otherwise, he'd have this thing nailed down and shut. (For the literal readers, I'm being sarcastic.)

All sarcasm aside, I cannot THAT DLC candidate because they are DLC. I don't care about their gender or their racial components. I care about their policies.

7. I think Hillary may be a good candidate for 2012 or 2016.
But for 2008, the Democrats need to come up with a sure-fire winner.

Hillary is still way too polarizing a figure to provide the Dems with victory in '08.

And whether this country is ready for a woman or non-white-male president is yet to be seen. I pray it happens within my lifetime, but I don't think this next election cycle is when it will happen.

14. Hillary's problem is that she isn't One Of Us...
She has no need of the average citizens of the netroots. She has funding, the "top" advisors, her husband...why should she condescend to listen to the average Joe or Jane? And if she doesn't need us, why should we want her?

15. nobody nailed anything
I'm not reading that for a third time looking for some shred of logic to support a Hillary nomination over almost everyone else in the race.

19. Guess you didn't read it then...
Marsh makes clear Hillary is not her first choice...just pointing out the obvious - that Hillary is the frontrunner right now, and Democrats supporting other candidates had better get their heads out of the sand and and stop assuming everyone agrees with them that Hillary is evil incarnate...

However, if you wish to continue living in DU land where Hillary is hated by all and polls showing her ahead are merely "name recognition"...be my guest!

20. "that Hillary is the frontrunner" is not the obvious, it's one of the biggest piles of bullshit
Edited on Wed Dec-20-06 09:07 AM by Bombtrack
heaped apon the public by the facts-free coporate media whores in ages. Hillary is the frontrunner just in the way that Lieberman was the frontrunner for 04 in 02/03.

DU CW is about as accurate as a Dick Morris prediction...

Now if she was the favorite here...I would be worried...
