WARNING ! WARNING ! WARNING !
Why such a post? Our nation is about to embark on a course of history that will change our nation and change the world for the worse. The President of the United States is about to unilaterally lead our nation into a much bigger war. It is not just a larger war in Iraq - it will lead to a larger war throughout the Middle East. Many, many people will die.

If there is a leader in this nation, I pray he will step forward at this time and challenge the authority of the man in the White House. He is not a king. He answers to the people. He does not have the unilateral authority to lead our nation into a larger war and to threaten the peace of the world.

No doubt Mr Bush "feels" he may be doing the right thing. These "terrorists" are a threat to our way of life. We must fight a prolonged war and be victorious, he says. Otherwise, the consequences would be awful.

However, his "feelings" should not determine the course that our nation takes at this time. We are indeed, at a crossroads. The "terrorists" will not circle the wagons and fight the Americans in Baghdad. They will move outside the Green Zone. They will move outside Baghdad. They will move outside Iraq. This is a very, very dangerous course.

Mr Bush is about to turn a fiasco into a catastrophe. If we follow him down his path, there will be no turning back. America, you have been warned.

2. I was talking to a hard core Koolaid drinker last night
who seems genuinely shaken up by the present course Stupid is taking, from the warantless eavesdropping to the escalation of the war in Iraq, which he's smart enough to recognize as Vietnam in the desert. He's one of those kneejerk lifer vets who thinks the GOP does more for the military. He's starting to pay attention when the rest of us tell him the GOP loves the military contractors but does squat for the troops.

He's not a bad guy, he's just been WRONG for the 10 years I've known him.

He's predicting a military coup, but warns that we may not be told when it comes, that Stupid will be left as a figurehead and that's it.

As much as I loathe the idea of being taken over by a military junta, I suspect he may be right. The military brass is 100% against Stupid except for that lunatic Boykin. They may act. They may have to.

4. There are a lot of officers, NCO's and others like Boykin indoctrinated by
extreme politicization and concurrent belief systems could lead to a coup (actually another one imo).

This would not be good and could lead to civil war here, which isn't outside the parameters of "the southern strategy"...

These extreme positions can be seen in the published works of many of the military and private think tanks over the post-Vietnam era, here is a good example from the USAF INSS October 1996 "Melancholy Reunion: A Report From The Future On The Collapse Of Civil-Military Relations In The United States" by Col.Charles J. Dunlap Jr.

5. Anyone who thinks Bush isn't a crazy psychotic lunatic
will soon find out they were wrong. It is absolutely mind boggling that cooler heads have not prevailed and gotten this maniac out of power and into an insane asylum before he leads the world into full scaled catastrophe. He's as crazy as many of us have always thought he is.

8. I think the TPTB might have a plan for that.
Edited on Wed Dec-20-06 11:25 AM by tblue37
I also think Bush should tread very carefully. He may think he is "The Decider," but there are those who really do make the decisions, and they will not take lightly to his refusing to heed their warnings.

Edited on Wed Dec-20-06 07:45 PM by tblue37
i.e., the people who really are the "Deciders." They put this little man into position as a figurehead, a sock puppet. He is not supposed to be freelancing. He is supposed to be doing what he is told to do.

A major representative of TPTB is, wait for it---James Baker.

And I share your bewilderment at why a leader obsessed with winning a losing war remains in power. Removing him as mentally unfit to command or impeaching him is the only logical option - when will the American people see the obvious???

7. Sobering thought, for sure.
Edited on Wed Dec-20-06 11:20 AM by SutaUvaca
Including Col. Dunlap's writing which I read from another post about 3 months ago.
there surely must be a number of commanding officers who wretch at the idea of sending their men to die for the disturbed dreams of the Chumpster. A goodly number who are even now torn between what constitutes an order and an illegal order.
I believe we have so much potential for much worse calamity than the world already has gotten from our dictator, and certainly for much worse circumstances within our once free nation.

9. Somebody needs to take him out...
I'm not saying that in the Mafia manner, but he must be removed from power in some way. He is showing dangerously sociopathic tendencies that could spell disaster for the entire human race. He scares me.

11. The battle of Petersburg's 'Battle of the Crater'
Battle of the Crater (July 30)
In an attempt to break the siege, former coal miners from the 48th Pennsylvania infantry, commanded by Lt. Col. Henry Pleasants, in Burnside's IX Corps, mined a 511-foot tunnel under the Confederate lines at Elliot's Salient. On July 30, they detonated the explosives, creating a crater some 135 feet in diameter that remains visible to this day. Some 280 to 350 Confederate soldiers were instantly killed in the blast. The Union plan was to exploit the explosion by sending well-rehearsed African-American troops of Ferrero's division into the gap and driving for critical objectives deep in the Confederate rear area. The plan was modified at the last minute, however, due to political concerns about the effect the black troops would have on the Confederate defenders and the public in general. Instead, the unrehearsed division of James Ledlie was substituted and disaster resulted. The troops entered the crater instead of moving around its rim. Unable to exit the steep sides of the crater, they were slaughtered by Confederates firing down on them. The division of William Mahone on the Confederate right flank was able to recover quickly and bring a strong counterattack to bear. Over 5,300 Union troops were casualties in the ill-fated battle that achieved none of its objectives.

12. The Dems would be remiss in defying
the will of the people in going along with this escalation. It will be like throwing gasoline on a fire to send more troops, but the neocons are really pushing for what they term a last-ditch effort. They got the ditch part right. We as a country will end upside down in a ditch on fire if we continue along this course.

If they do not, they have a moral responsibility to do everything within their power to prevent its escalation.

14. more importantly WE do not agree with the war,
the election went down on that basis, and as our representatives it is their duty to carry out the will of the people. Any acquiescence to this criminally negligent plan to escalate the war will be viewed by this citizen as a breach of contract that will be dealt with at the ballot box.

19. I don't think
any of the current military 'leaders' have the balls to carry out a coup, even one we didn't hear about. Sorry, they'd all have to retire first. I did hear Peter Pace and the other guy whose name I won't even try and spell are being rotated out of Iraq in March.

Wish they did because I do agree with the rest of the posters that we need to get out of there and if the Congress doesn't follow the will of the people who put them there, then they are no better than the republican whores they replaced.

Lieberlite has already agreed with chimpy if I read right.
