Obama's decision on presidential bid expected this week
Well, if this article is correct, we'll know in short order if Obama is running. My strong hunch is he will.

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Published Wednesday, December 20, 2006

HONOLULU - Sen. Barack Obama will decide this week in Hawaii if he'll seek the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008, his sister said Tuesday.

"He's going to make his decision here and announce it to us. Then he's probably going to officially announce his decision once he returns," Maya Soetoro told The Associated Press.

Obama, a 45-year-old freshman senator from Illinois, was born in Hawaii and graduated from Honolulu's private Punahou School in 1979.

13. It's a little soon for him to say "yes" that makes me nervous
most people around now are just saying no. I hope Obama runs. It'll be a good learning experience if he doesn't win the nom for next time.

20. My guess is he's basically running for veep.
Maybe in a fluke he could make it to the top of the ticket, but I suspect he'd be perfectly happy with #2.

3. I'm guessing no, and hoping no. Give him eight years.
Or make him VP, then give him eight years. Just my thoughts.

6. Not this week
This was further down in the article:

"He'll stay on the islands until the first week of January, when he's due back in Washington."

I hope Senator Obama enjoys his holidays and returns refreshed and ready to run! ;-)

7. Obama will run. Everyone is running this time because it should be ours
for the taking. The next president is gonna be a Democrat so why would anyone wait, especially Obama, who's got the magic momentum going for him right now.

15. I think he runs.
Worst case is that he's picked as the DEM nominee's VP choice.

I think the time is now for him. He has momentum and there's a wide-open seat in the White House in 2008.

17. And think how much fun 2007-2008 will be with him in the race!
He changes the whole dynamic and his presence will make everyone have to bring their best game.

Whether he wins or loses, it would be great for the party and great for the country.

18. Tom Daschle: Obama has "almost unlimited potential"
Also this week, former Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle said Obama has "almost unlimited potential" and could be a contender against Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008.

<snip>

"His stock is still rising," Daschle said of Obama. "He's one of those rare individuals who has almost unlimited potential and seems to defy most of the laws of political gravity at this point."

This is the time for Obama to run, before he is compromised by Senate procedural votes that would need explaining in a future campaign, the "I voted for it before I voted against it."

Then there is a my gut check: I crinch when I see Hillary. I get excited when I see Obama.

26. He's gonna run.
He's a Leo like Bill Clinton, he has the Clinton charisma, and Leos love adulation. It's a lock.

Just my silly comment of the day. :hi:

27. Barack & his family sent out AWESOME Christmas cards via e-mail..
I signed up on his site to receive occassional news from his campaign, and today... an incredibly beautiful card arrived with his wife & two little girls on it!

The card shows at the very bottom "paid for by Obama 2010" ..So I don't know what that means..

Beautiful card though!

28. 2010 is when he's up for reelection in the senate
Of course, if he runs for president and wins then the governor of Illinois (who is a Democrat) would appoint a replacement who would then run in Obama's place in 2010.
