What would you call this?
The Logic of the Iraq Strategy

Last Monday a reporter asked White House press secretary Tony Snow the following question on the subject of Iraq.
Reporter: "Just a simple question, are we winning?"
Tony Snow's response: "We're making progress. I don't know. How do you define winning?"

A day later a different reporter asked Tony Snow a question.
Reporter: "What's the President's strategy in Iraq?"
Tony Snow's response: "His strategy is to win."

Circular logic?

1. Circular logic, yes. But Snow's job is not to inform.

2. Its a nuanced approach My Dear
Where words and meanings are flexible and used and adapted by the administration to challenge our difficulties in these trying times. Its hard work indeed but our great christian president and his wonderfully honest spokesperson are trying their best to do the right thing every day.

Jesus H. Christ I could do snow's job!!

3. Awww heck
A MUTE could do Tony Snow's job as he says absolute nothing of substance
Not meant personally, darling :D --just saying that even speechifying isn't necessary to do his job

To us the meanings are false, yes
but in the 1st person context of their own logic, what constructs their squirming worms for brains come up with; yet is this more circular or is it perhaps Freudian in that they don't know the definition of 'win' yet insist they indeed are winning;

or perhaps both?

Just wondering as I only took one intro to Philosophy course & that was 20 years ago

5. Okay I'm busted
I try to live my life by Mark Twains saying - always tell the truth and you will never have to remember anything. Its really quite easy. Funny after I posted that I thought, no John you are a dumbass to think that you and snow have anything in common.

6. Hmmmm.
"We don't know how to define 'win'"...

..."Bush's strategy is to win."

Sounds like once again, Bush's strategy is to not know what he's doing, or how to do it. Again.
