Virgil H. Goode Jr.'s, R-Va letter warned first Muslim in Congress a serious threat
Va. lawmaker's anti-Muslim letter stirs furor

WASHINGTON — In a letter sent to hundreds of voters this month, Rep. Virgil H. Goode Jr., R-Va., warned that the recent election of the first Muslim to Congress posed a serious threat to the nation's traditional values.

Goode was referring to Keith Ellison, D-Minn., a criminal-defense lawyer who converted to Islam as a college student and was elected to the House in November. Ellison's plan to use the Quran during his private swearing-in ceremony in January had outraged some Virginia voters, prompting
Goode to issue a written response to them, a spokesman for Goode said.

In his letter, which was dated Dec. 5, Goode said that Americans needed to "wake up" or else there would "likely be many more Muslims elected to office and demanding the use of the Quran."

"I fear that in the next century we will have many more Muslims in the United States if we do not adopt the strict immigration policies that I believe are necessary to preserve the values and beliefs traditional to the United States of America and to prevent our resources from being swamped," said Goode, who vowed to use the Bible when taking his own oath of office.

Goode declined on Wednesday to comment on his letter, which quickly stirred a furor among some congressional Democrats and Muslim-Americans, who accused him of bigotry and intolerance.

1. Ellison's constituents were fully aware and didn't care.
Mr. Goode has revealed who is really a danger to American values of freedom of religion.

3. In A Related Story
The Lord Our God declared Virgil H. Goode an irredeemable tool who will burn in everlasting hellfire for his sins. :sarcasm:

The Quran, and Islam, make the Immaculate Conception & Virgin Birth of Jesus Christ an Article of Faith for Muslims.

12. Can someone set the record straight for me?
I have heard that no 'faith book' of any kind (including the Bible) is used in the swearing-in ceremony and that Ellison wants the Quran for the photo shots after the swearing in. What's the precise story?

18. Right they are sworn in en masse
they all just raise their right hands.

I don't think that there is even another ceremony they usually only use the Bible for a photo op-but I could be wrong.
